White Screen of death - HELP

Thread Starter
Hello all,
I'm having issues with my video card crashing. The problem is my monitor goes white (or green, or it has vertical strips) after a few minutes of doing any task (surfing net, etc). I've check the connections and the the video card is seated fine.

My system is new ( I built it on Oct. 31), and the problem didn't occur at first - But, after I updated my drivers, it seems to have come around.

Yesterday, I deleted all my ATI drivers and cleaned the sytem using driver cleaner pro. I reinstalled the 6.10 driver and it's still doing the same thing.

Any ideas what this could be? How can I fix it?

Regards,
Oasiris

What kind of connection are you using for the monitor?

Filling in your "System Specs" may offer a little more insight
Do you know someone that can lend you a monitor to test your system... might be the monitor it self.

What video card are you using? Also, just to be safe, make sure the fan is spinning and its not overheating, as that could cause the problem (although that is doubtfull, since its a new card). Have you tried rolling back the drivers to the first version that worked?

Is your video card overclocked at all?

My video card is an X1900Xt - Asus

Nothing is overclocked

Monitor is Samsung 204B - has worked fine with old system - not one single issue - for 2 months.

Connection - Hmm - Theres only one style of connection from the video card - it's a digital connection of some type - plugs perfecting with cable from monitor.

No, I haven't tried the CD driver yet - It's one version older. Although, I think I was having this issue with it too. I think that's why I was trying to update teh driver.

Other system specs: NOTHING OC'd
Asus P5B - delux Mobo
Intel 6400 - 2.13 Dual core duo
Asus X1900XT 256 video card

Just now, I turned on the pc and everything booted fine. It went to windows mode, my background came up and about 10 secs later - bam - green vertical stripes is all thats on the screen.

Any ideas? I have 6.10 driver.

This happened to me when I tried to use some older drivers (on and nvidia card though) like after I would boot up, it would show my background and stuff, then it would turn into a white background with lots of color stripes on it. I just installed the newest driver and all worked fine. Are the 6.10 the newest drivers?
Just try using different drivers till one works
