RAT 7 or G500?

So yeah, been to almost everywhere in Egypt that sells computer peripherals, the only considerably good/well known mice I found was the Logitech G500, and the Cyborg RAT 7 Contagion. These are my only choices for the time.

I've read a huge number of issues in reviews about both mice. G500 left click dies and/or double clicks in a few month. While the RAT 7's Philips Twin eye laser sensor has a lot of issues with z-axis and lift off problems besides being too sensitive.

I'm leaning towards the RAT 7 because of how it looks and I like having a fully adjustable mouse. Money is not an issue for me at all, I'm hardly paying anything for it.

The only other alternative I got is to buy a crappy cheap mouse and keep using it for 2 months, until I go to the US on Christmas and buy me a better mouse, probably the SS Sensei since I heard it was really good and hardly found any issues online about it.

What do you guys think I should do? My current mouse's right click is half broken, whenever I click it, it either registers as 2 right clicks or doesn't register at all. It's a Logitech EX100, been using it for a good year and a half now, maybe more.

Any help from anyone experienced will be greatly appreciated. Registered here today just to post this, will probably stick around if I get good feedback. smile.gif

Thank you guys in advance.

I have never used the G500, but i own the RAT 5, and absolutely hate it. its too flat/thin for my liking. the laser is faulty sometimes (read up on this many ppl have to RMA for bad laser). the mouse just feels cheap and the buttons dont seem to respond well. the customization i feel is just a gimmick, the mouse overall is too flat. i don't have big hands and i already feel this cramps up my hand. if you have large hands, i wouldn't even bother with this.

My CM storm is half the price but has a better feel to it. The RAT 7 might be better, but it just seem like the same thing with just a few more buttons and gimmick to it.

oh one more thing...the side two buttons are in such an awkward position (lower than other mice) its pretty hard to press, and its really stiff to push, my thumb has to be in an awkward position to press it.

If it's just the design, I tried holding it and I kind of liked it in my hand, the thumb rest is movable to my liking, can't I just put where I like to it isn't an an awkward position? Did you have any issues with the mouse it self apart from the design? I've never really had side buttons on a mouse so.. not entirely sure where they should be to be honest. I mostly play FPS games and some MMORPG's like Torch Light 2. Sometimes play League of Legends as well.

G500 had the best built quality of any mouse I have ever used. I used a g500 with heavy abuse for almost 2 years and no clicks broke.

Any issues or cons? Have you ever tried the Rat 7? Sorry for asking too much, this is probably going to be my mouse for a good couple of years.

Ugh the lip othe right side grip is awkward at times for palm gripping, and the scroll wheel is sorta stiff at first. I have held a rat in my hand but have not owned one. I would be embarrassed for people to see that on my desk lol.

RAT 7 is THE best mouse for FPS that I've seen. The features are great, and the build quality feels great. I highly recommend it.

The RAT 5 doesn't have as many adjustments and pieces available as the 7. That being said, I don't know how you hate the feel of it so bad, but it could have to do with my first statement. I had a RAT 7 and currently own a G600. I loved the look and feel of my RAT, and had no issues whatsoever. I used it for about 5 months before I sold it to get the G600. The ONLY reason I got rid of it is because the white G600 I bought matches perfectly with my current build. I had a black case when I bought the RAT. Aesthetics were more important to me than the differences in the 2 mice. I'll also note that I have a 2XL, 8" long hand and with the largest attachments, the right adjustments, and only 1 weight in the mouse, I found the RAT perfect for my comfort.

As the owner of both of those mice, I would definitely by the Logitech over the RAT again. I used the Logitech for almost a year, and I thought it was a great mouse. I wanted a change, and picked up a RAT 7 on sale. Used it for 2 months before getting a Deathadder. I am keeping the Deathadder for a long time, with the Logitech as a backup. I will not recommend the RAT, as I couldn't find a comfortable combination, and didn't like the laser quality (it was quite finnicky some days)

I have tried 5 high end $100+ gaming mice and I hated all of them accept for one, it's called the SteelSeries Sensei, with the SteelSeries 9HD Pro mouse pad, THE BEST!
