Razer Blackwidow Ultimate

Thread Starter
I am looking into Mechanical keyboards and came across the Razer Blackwidow Ultimate. I know it's Razer and people usually avoid them (love it or hate it) but I don't see any real problems with this specific product.

The blackwiddow has all the features I was looking for such as backlight (specifically blue), a few macros but nothing overboard, basic key layout with standard sized keys (no resized enter, shift, backspace, ect).

Does anyone have any problems with this keyboard regarding functionality, build quality, drivers/firmware, longevity of product life?

Also was curious about the coating on the keys themselves. Does the coating wear off like the Lycosa does?

I want to place the order for my keyboard and mouse tonight, so a fast reply would be appreciated.

I am more interested in the Blackwidow Ultimate. I'm sure that is a great product but it's OOS.

I have it. Been using it for 1 year. Nothing wrong with it as far as Quality goes, looks amazing, and Blues are amazing. The only thing that might get people off is 2KRO but i did not notice any problems in BF3 or GW2.

I had a blackwidow ultimate, and loved it. Sold it when I got out of computers, and just bought a regular blackwidow, and it works just as well.

Either one will do you right!

I've got one and frankly I quite enjoy it. I guess my only real complaint is the glossy finish picks up fingerprint marks like a magnet. Otherwise my personal experience with it has been nothing but smooth sailing save for pissing off my roommates because the blues are a teensy bit loud. thumb.gif

Ok thanks for the opinions I will be ordering this tonight. If something falls through, I'll just return it to newegg.

My experience was not very good with the BWU. I would recommend something else but it sounds like you're committed.

I loved mine when I had it. As someone else already said, the glossy parts are a pain in the butt. Great keyboard though

I already ordered it last night as it has good reviews and I want to try a mechanical keyboard. Can you give more detail about your unfavorable experience?
