Good 40" TV to use as a monitor?

Hey all, currently i am using some POS Dynex 40" 1080p tv as a second screen and i like the bigger screen (compared to a monitor) mostly due to my terrible vision lol, but i want something better. Want to stick with a 40 (although in consider bigger if the price was right i suppose)" and i was looking around $600 (i would consider more if it yielded much better IQ) at at some of the Samsung/Sony LED TV's. I am having trouble sorting through all the extra crap though, I dont care about 3D, Smart TV, 120Hz etc. I just want a tv with preferably an IPS panel, LED, and just some solid 2D IQ.

Any suggestions?

Using a TV as a monitor is never the best idea.
If you have bad vision, invest in a high quality 24-30 computer monitor for about the same price and be happy.
Better color, Better pixel density, and an overall better experience.

I used to have a U3011, i want something bigger. Also i can get a 40" for a lot less than the cost of a U3011. I sometimes use this screen from bed which is why i want something this big.

I really can't use my TV as a monitor apart from films, its just nowhere near as nice as the panels in a monitor

I don't think anybody will be able to tell you a TV that is good for using as a monitor... its comparing apples to oranges really.

I used a Samsung 46" as a monitor for over a year, it worked quite well as long as you are several feet away(4-6 feet /minimum/ depending on your screen size). I was using it to show friends what I was doing on main monitor(MMOBA games mostly), and to watch Hulu and what not.
I personally like the Samsung panels, though I have since been interested in the Sharp quad pixel stuffs tongue.gif I would just head to your local vendor and check the screens in store, check which ones you like, see how they deal with lower resolution content etc.

there are tv's that are far better than monitors out there except for pixel density, a good tv will have black levels and static contrast that will put monitors to shame (IE Pioneer Kuro). . regardless though, i just want a good suggestion for a tv thats 40-46" LED LCD, IPS panel and good 2D IQ, i dont care about smart tv, 3d etc.
