The base of the stand is attached with two screws. The arm of the stand comes preattached to the monitor. That is the part I am curious about.

I have two Shimians and can confirm that the arm is attached with one bolt and can be removed easily.

Both my Shimians are attached to a 3M LCD Stand, which works great. Pivot, rotate, swivel, and height.

Just be aware that the VESA mount holes on the Shimian are very shallow for some reason. The screws that came with the 3M were too long. I had to go to Lowes and buy some shorter M4 screws.

How tip proof are the stands? Does it seem like they would be easy to bump over?

The metal base of the stand has a fair amount of weight to it. These monitors are big, but they are pretty light. It does not seem like the monitors would tip or be able to bump over. I like the stand so much I bought 3 of them.
