If you want better cooling try Scythe "ULTRA KAZE" Fans. They rock! LOL

i mean its just a 120/140/120mm right?!
and while im at it lets redo all my case fans!
ok so i have 2x 140mm exhaust fans (top)
2x 120mm intakes (front and side)
1x 120mm exhaust (rear)
any suggestions, not bothered about LEDs or noise to a certain degree.

Alpenfohn K2 (120 & 140mm fans to match)

Phanteks PH-TC14PE (not PWM)

Thermalright Silver Arrow SB-E & SB-E Extreme (TY-143 not available separately yet)

Fan--tastic cooler and fans are even better. Have 2 and want more for case.
Can be easily bought for less the 52 quid delivered from known retailer now on auction bay

TY-143 fans are available in Taiwan but can't find any elsewhere yet.

The Silver Arrow SB-E and Alpenföhn K2 have 8 heatpipes and are bigger heightwise though. I know that the Silver Arrow SB-E is 170mm tall with fans.

I have never seen the Alpenföhn K2 anywhere but reviews sites. It's supposedly 160mm tall (http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/cases_cooling/alpenfohn_k2_review/1).

(i.e. http://www.vortez.net/articles_pages/alpenfoehn_k2_cpu_cooler_revisited,8.html)

Ordering phanteks / Noctua is easy (Newegg/frozencpu/xoxide) and Silver Arrow SB-E is available at Superbiiz/xoxide.

If anyone could find a supplier of Alpenfohn K2 for <$90 shipped to east coast it would be nice.

"With the extreme heat of a 4.7GHz overclock applied the dual tower K2 outperforms each of the single tower competitors and the Noctua NH-D14. Thermalright’s Silver Arrow and Phanteks’ PH-TC14PE still offer better performance at this CPU frequency."- http://www.eteknix.com/reviews/cooling/alpenfohn-k2-dual-tower-cpu-cooler-review/8/

I shoehorned the Phanteks PH-TC14PE into my R2. A mate shoehorned the Thermalright Silver Arrow SB-E in his R3. CPU clearance spec is 165mm.

Cooler size comparison
K2 . = . 140x128x158mm 146x154x160mm w/fans (WxDxH looking from front of case)
D14 = . 140x130x160mm 140x158x160mm w/fans
TC14 = 140x134x160mm 140x159x171mm w/fans
SA . = . 147x123x160mm 151x149x160mm w/Fans
SB-E. = 155x105x164mm 170x130x170mm w/fans
Extreme 155x105x164mm 155x130x165mm w/fans Reason it's smaller is 140mm fan vs 150mm fan.

K2, D14 & TC14 are about same except for TC14 140mm fans & 31mm RAM clearance stack up to 171mm (my R2 is 165mm clearance and TC14 fits)

SB-E is widest by 15mm. Even wider with TY-150 fan = 170.

Extreme with TY-143 fans is still 151.5mm
