So I'm guessing that the cables that are marked as "6 Gb/s" have actually been tested and are known to achieve those speeds, whereas the other cables are not branded as "6 Gb/s" because they haven't been tested? As a manufacturer, I would think that you would want to have this label. Even if it is just a marketing ploy, someone (formerly) like myself would probably look for that label to be sure they were getting the fastest speed possible.

I had a sata cable out of a Asus p55 motherboard that turned out to be the cause of my Crucial c300 randomly switching down to sata 3gb/s according to Intel rst. It took me a awhile to figure it out because so many people said it can't be the cable. That was the first and only cable I've ever had issue with not being able to run at 6gb/s steady. So then they said the cable was defective. If it worked at the 3gb/s speed that it was built to run at then no it's wasn't defective. And it did indeed work at 3gb/s just fine.
