Need a PSU...

i need a psu (duh) but i need one of an extremely small form factor. im making a new system in a Xbox 360 chassis(broke, and was collecting dust. and i need a small rig to at least play games on while travelling. I do that a lot) and i need a small psu/ some way to power it. ive seen this PSU and im wondering on anything smaller(alot to ask) or more wattage for size, and reliability. please give me feedback, thanks thumb.gif
PS: i will be powering an AMD A8 3870K CPU/an FM2 socket alternative(when available)

The A8 3870K is too power hungry for you to consider a pico psu. So your going to be stuck with larger PSU's, like the Flex ATX size. You might be able to snag a proprietary meant for a POS, but I dunno. Flex ATX do come in Silver and Gold ratings though for efficiency which is reassuring.

I am currently looking to power an e3 (i7 sans gpu) and a gtx 580 off of this SFX PSU (it seems like it will work, just barely). An STX PSU is shorter, but takes up more area overall. Like 33% more area.

no, it needs to be that size (the one i have linked) or slightly bigger. to quote a pc magazine i have: "A system using an AMD 3870K, with its integrated GPU running at FULL PELT only draws 160W of power from the mains." these guys ARE accurate. They use professional equipment, and always deliver correct, reliable, impartial results.

Your still stuck with what I said. Pico PSU's top out at 150W. Technically they can surpass the 160W mark, but it would be a fickle thing. Since your looking at the 3870k, your not looking to underclock, so your left with Flex ATX's or something proprietary AFAIK.

Maybe duckie or someone else can think of something I didn't. Even the old shuttle pc's used flex atx IIRC.

So with the Flex/Mini ITX sze in mind: Link to the egg's.

YES, this is the sort of thing i need. ive just checked, and i think ive found the psu im loking for. thanks for that. i looked everywhere on sites i knew and trusted, but this is good. after checking measurements, i think im gona choose this. +1 to you sir.
