3. Press enter. Time taken: Instant.

Using the keyboard in a GRAPHICS USER INTERFACE? rolleyes.gif

Hey, if using the keyboard and typing a couple characters on a keyboard is a "Great Improvement in speed", why don't we all just go back to DOS and REALLY pick up some speed then?

Metro is wonderful for doing one thing at a time with things running in the background (just like a smart phone with a 4.3" screen), but for people who use it with 24"+ monitors, it is a backwards step.
Thankfully, even if you are forced to buy it because of a pre-built computer, you can "downgrade" to Windows 7 for at least another 18 months.

Speak for yourself (why are people so incapable of this?).

I use a 37 inch monitor and W8 uses my screen space just fine.

I can easily have two web pages side by side with a music/video app docked on either side of the screen with room to spare.

If you think its a backward step, that's fine. You're entitled to your opinion.

What I don't get is why people seem to think projecting their opinion as truth can actually make it a truth, even if someone else's version of "truth" is completely different, yet no less valid. You know, since its actually opinions we're sharing, not facts.

btw if anyone wants a snappable media player that allows good library navigation without having to un snap/maximise, try Multimedia 8 from the app store. It works quite well imo.

I use that trick to open programs all the time on 7 too. Its very fast and confuses the heck out of the old people I work with.

I'm sorry, what does that screen shot have to do with what I said?

Now if you want to take a screen shot of something ... go fire up 3 or 4 copies of Remote Desktop Connection, have them all tiled and viewable, take a screen shot of them in Metro, then post it here.

I'll see your response sometime after Microsoft kills Metro from Windows 8 ... because you can't DO IT in Windows 8 Metro.

Note how the screenshot is demonstrating the media browsing/playing app I was talking about.

Its awesome how out of all I typed, the only thing you could reply to was the one part totally irrelevant and blatantly not aimed at you in the slightest. Even more awesome is how even after choosing to focus on that one part, you still failed to put together a relevant rebuttal.

Yeah, it's almost as awesome as you COMPLETELY ignoring what I posted about RDP and posting some irrelevant screen shot of several other programs side by side. But since I make the statement, and you FAILED to disprove it by your worthless screen shot, the onus is still on you. But as I said, you can just save yourself the headache, admit that Windows 8 Metro can't do what I ask (trust me, I've tried, and so have many others) and move on.

Like I said, the screenshot was to display the multimedia app I was talking about, not to try and disprove anything at all. I even posted it DIRECTLY after talking solely about the multimedia app and recommending it to anyone interested. I suppose reading words is too difficult when there are pictures on the page.

Sorry, I wasn't aware literally everything I type in this thread must be in reply to you. Its ironic because you actually totally ignore the actual reply stating that you should talk for yourself regarding large screen users and W8 (considering I am one and don't agree with your opinion of a "step back" stated as a fact) and attempt to try and have something to say about the part that wasn't even aimed at you. Just so you can appear to actually have an argument to make.

lol, carry on.

Yeah, sure. That's why you quoted me and what I said right? Because it had nothing to do with what I said.

I quoted you, replied directly to you and finished.

Then started talking about a new multimedia app I found for W8 that I thought I recommend to anyone interested.

You somehow missed the multiple paragraphs actually addressing the argument you made and only saw a picture, seemingly lacking the reading comprehension required to see that the single paragraph directly above it shows the pictures context perfectly.

Here, let me try and help you out a little.

Notice how above the line, I'm directly addressing your post.

While underneath it, I'm addressing "anyone", talking about the multimedia app that provides good navigation while snapped, then showing a picture of it snapped with navigation menu showing? Hint: The reason talking about a media player to other people is not related to trying to "disprove" whatever you were talking about regarding RDP, is because I was actually talking about a media player, to other people. Not trying to disprove whatever you were talking about regarding RDP.

Hope this helps.
