The 555-build.

Thread Starter
Hi again, OCN.

I've recently ordered my build for this season, and I'm really happy with what components it ended up with smile.gif
After a big discusion I decided to go for 1155 socket, but I don't think a 2011 socket would be bad, but it wouldn't fit my usage.
I've build two other PC's earlier, but I can't really call myself experienced yet, lol biggrin.gif I decided to go SLI hence to the fact that I'm actually on a budget and it's about getting the most out of the money and I've got it clear that 660Ti SLi is slightly better than a single 680. I also prefer the look of SLi tongue.gif And I'm really exited to get started with this build, the components will apparantly be at my place within the week's over.wink.gif

So here's the list and price of the components, don't be surprised that it's a little more expensive than what you're used to since I live in Norway wink.gif

MSI Z77 M Power - 299$

Intel Core i7-3770K 3.5GHz Socket 1155 Box - 449$

EVGA GeForce GTX 660Ti 2GB DDR5 2xDVI HDMI DisplayPort PCIe SLi - 799$

Corsair Vengeance Dual C DDR3 16GB Kit, 1600MHz, 4x4GB, LP - 99$

XFX PSU Core Edition 850W 80+ Bronze - 139$

Fractal Design Define XL - 199$

OCZ Octane S2 64GB SSD R:180/W:90 2.5" SATA-2 - 59$

Corsair Cooling Hydro H100 - 129$

Cooling-Fan Corsair Air Series SP120 High Performance Edition TWIN PACK - 39$

NZXT 24 Pin M/B Extension Cable 250mm - 19$

NZXT 8 Pin M/B Extension Cable 250mm - 9$

Which ends up with a grand total of 2209$

I'll keep all of you updated as much as I can.

Thank you for your time:)

I'm sorry that I started the thread before I physically got the components, but I'm just SO FREAKING EXITED.

The build looks good but might want to consider the i5 3570k, if your going to game on this machine!

Well, I'll spend some time in Photoshop as well so I thought the 3770k would be a little better for me, but I appreciate your advice smile.gif

Ditch the H100 and get a Noctua NH-D14 and get some corsair low profile RAM. You will be much happier. The H100 has had some failures, I RMA'd 3 and they all had problems, then I just gave up.

For the GPUs I would go double GTX 670 just because of the extra bandwidth, which will help in multi GPU setups, if I am not mistaken (feel free to correct me).

Well, the budget would prolly explode then, no joke. I pushed the whole budget to the cent, even a little more biggrin.gif

But I don't doubt your statement is wrong though.

Actually, I thought about this yesteryday and I'm not gonna use Photoshop THAT much so I decided to go for the 3570K and change motherboard from the Sabertooth Z77 to ASRock Z77 PERFORMANCE so I could save enough money to get two 670's. So this is how it currently looks.

ASrock Z77 PERFORMANCE

MSI Z77 M Power

INTEL Core i5-3570K

Zotac GeForce GTX 670 2GB DDR5 2xDVI HDMI SLI

Corsair Vengeance Dual C DDR3 16GB Kit, 1600MHz, 4x4GB, LP

Fractal Design Define XL

Corsair Cooling Hydro H100 CPU-kylare multiplatform

Cooling-Fan Corsair Air Series SP120 Quiet Edition TWIN PACK

XFX 750W Core Edition PSU P1-750S-NLB9, ATX12V, EPS12V Upp till 82% (80 PLUS Bronze)

Btw. does anyone of you guys know how much I'd be able to clock the 3570K with the H100 with aftermarket fans?

Buy 3770K, depending on how much you video edit and ect...

Buy a Single 680 4GB Have heard great things about Galaxy or MSI Twin Frozr Version

Get a dual channel kit for Z77. Dual channel will offer you better performance than 4 single channel sticks. I recommend Patriot 8GBx2 or G.Skill Ares both sets are cheaper than what you listed.

For the motherboard: G1 Sniper 3 or ASRock OC Formula or Asus ROG V Formula

The fans that come with the Corsair cooler are the same as the SP series fans. If looking for case fans, buy something in the 800 to 1200rpm range.

Power Supply: I would try and pick up a Gold rated for the same price. Capstone for 103.99 shipped from Newegg Gold rated efficiency

What res are you gaming at? 670 SLI is a waste for 1080p.
