iPad 2 vs New iPad

Thread Starter
Hey guys I am looking at picking up an iPad and I am not sure what one I should buy.

Of course the New iPad will be better, the obvious better screen, but the I can get the iPad 2 for a lot cheaper right now.

Basically is the New iPad worth the extra money over the iPad 2?

If you have the extra cash I'd say so. The gf has an iPad 2 and next to my new iPad it looks atrocious. If you have never seen the new iPad before it honestly won't matter.

Yeah the retina display looks miles better side-by-side. I compared my 2 with a friend's 3 and the text was much easier to read. That being said the 2 is by no means hard to read or a bad device. Its up to you to decide whether you think the extra screen quality and CPU is worth the extra money for what you want to do with it.

Personally, I'd say yes, the new iPad is worth it. That's because for my usage (lots of text heavy websites, ebook reading, A4/letter-sized technical PDFs, etc), the retina display on the new iPad helps a lot. Planning on picking up a couple of 4G LTE iPads when the new model is released in April/May next year and iPad (2012) Apple Outlet refurbs become available for $150 or more cheaper compared to current prices. tongue.gif

It's definitely worth it but it may be a good idea to wait for the iPad 4 and grab the iPad 2 in the meantime. The 4 will be more refined -- better battery life, thinner, less heat, more powerful, etc.

Check them both out and see what you think.

Go with New iPad.

Hello,

I have the new iPad and like it, however I could not compare it to iPad 2. I really like the retina display. I am also developing an own app for it. To be honest I am not a professional but have a little experience in programming. Found a page with useful information about app development for iPad/iPhone and code snippets that helped me a lot during the development. In case you are also interested in app development then it is worth to have a look (if interested: http://www.voip-sip-sdk.com/p_457-voip-iphone-integration-voip.html). Hope you will find this information useful.

Typing this from an ipad3 right now. Honestly. I love it... I've had it 2days and I feel like I've owned it forever.

Get it, best choice you ever made( if you get it at least)
