LOL i just brain storm this idea this morning dont know if it will be worth trying.
A intercooler is there to help cool down the compressed air from the turbo so... i figured that it might work for cooling down room air temp
with a little cold water involved Eg. like how racers use o2 and water sprayers to add extra cooling
SO PLZ dont BASH ON MY POST IT WAS JUST A WILD IDEA!

you will get minimal temperature drops, there are two reasons why it works well in a turboed car. One, the compressor side of a turbo gets hot ususally somewhere in the range of 200 degrees F and the intercooler is at ambient temps so it will bring that 200 degree charge of air down from 200 to something much lower, the other reason why intercoolers work better to produce good results is because most oe intercoolers are very flow restrictive, and aftermarket ones can flow alot of air though them resulting it more power.

so like i said i do not think you will really get any results at all. your best bet is to buy some dry ice and a fan and blow the cool air across the heat sink. Another idea is taking a can of dust cleaner and flipping it over and freezing the heat tower.

not flaming you because i beleive wild ideas can be refined into realistic good ideas. This like pac0tac0 said will yeild minimal results. Add to this this bulkiness of the required components, the noise of a hairdryer fan, and the potential cost of these compoents, assuming you dont have them lying around, and then the actual performance of the setup which would be maybe 1 or 2 degress drop, its totally not worth it. your better off spending you tim, effort and money on a nice water cooling setup. get creative with that by using a car radiator and electric auto cooling fan and a beast of a pump.

ah, so you're going to attempt an air chiller. It's an interesting idea but it falls flat because of the noise that hairdryer is creating. That and as it was said before, intercoolers aren't designed for such a small delta in temperature.

you're better off going with a heatercore plumbed into cold water or, you can loop water through an icebox and use that chilled water to cool the air going through the radiator.

YIP:) all im missing is a hair drier to test it out!!

wont be using it for pc use but if its successful who knows illl try it out on rusty! and post some results
