I would say its probably dead, unless you feel lucky enough to clean the areas and put some non conductive silica on it so you dont get sparks from the high amperage. But if it does work I wouldnt use it unless you decided to LN2/DICe it to dead as I would consider it a liability now.

Once delidded it isn't too useful for dice/ln2 anymore.

Yes.
People only do this to Ivy Bridge, not Sandy Bridge. Ivy Bridge uses TIM between the core and IHS; so a lot of times temperatures are bad (mine was absolutely terrible with an NH-D14). Sandy Bridge and earlier models use a solder between the core and the IHS so there is way better heat transfer and it's consistent between all chips.
