my whole thing is that I prefer to take lower end hardware and overclock it to get value out of it over buying high end and risk a huge face palm. Its happens all the time around here and people are like "sorry bro". I just feel people are bullied into it all the time and thousands of dollars in burnt motherboards and cpu's all in the name of testing better on some silly benchmark program. Its just a bi-product of how this place operates these days compared to 2009-2010.
My Athlon II X2 was like 25 bucks and its not going to make me terribly sad if it dies, its like someone who lapped a 990x and messed it up. I mean is the 10c u might get get worth wasting a grand. Most of the people and their setup is fine they way it is, but they get bored/drunk and want to tinker because some guy who has been at it for years acts like it an easy process, maybe for him....
I wasn't immune to it myself, hence why I have probably wasted close to 200 dollars on motherboards, etc. Thats why I either get cheap setup that isn't going to make me sad if it dies, or a superior arch I can run at stock. That is why i buy non K- editions, because I don't want the temptation of doing it when I am bored. OCN for me is helping noobs, getting below market value components and keeping up on the tech front. Its doesnt always have to be overclocking even though this is overclock.net Edited by dlee7283 - 9/25/12 at 2:17pm
