I am not sure how the driver affects single card systems. for now most of the guys who tried this have 2 card systems

So I read part of the link an op posted in here. It seems to point at the physical x drivers where not that good this time around. So someone suggested updating to 306 BUT do it as a custom install and uncheck the physical x box and this would leave the 301 driver while updating the rest of the drivers to 306. This is an interesting idea. I am going to try it tonight and see what benchmarks I get.

Feedback on this idea would be great.

Hmm, from what I read it is mostly 4 &5 series(4 is more commom) owners seeing this significant of a dropoff while I haven't seen 670/680 SLI get the same problem, might want to investigate some when I SLI my 670s.

that would help us describe if the 600 series also have this drop in performance.

i would like to get the word out so people would be aware of it.

I will definitely try to help, btw do you need to run some sort of registry/left over cleaner when uninstalling Nvidia drivers? when I went from 301.42 to 306.23 I just went into control panel and uninstalled everything with Nvidia on it.

I just check the nvidia clean install check box when you are installing new/old drivers. it works just fine with me

So to revert to an old driver you just click the 301.42 driver installation exe and let it take care of itself?

when you click on 301 drivers go to custom install instead of express. at the bottom when it asks you what drivers you want to install there is a check box for a clean install. click that and it removes all the nvidia drivers and reinstalls them fresh. If your running SLi and or have personal settings withing nvidia they will be deleted and have to be resetup.
