[DM] Flagship Smartphone Display Technology Shoot-Out - Apple iPhone 5 - Samsung Galaxy S III - Apple iPhone 4 - Page 3

With phones I couldn't care less about resolution. Screen size is a much more relevant factor. I mean, high resolution displays on desktop monitors where you can multi-task and use lots of screen real estate makes sense. But on a 4"-5" screen the differences between 300 and 330ppi is irrelevant and nothing more than a marketing gimmick. Even older, low res phones with big screens like the Droid X look totally fine to my eyes...

Droid X has a 4.3" screen with 480 x 854 so that's 227PPI? Reading fine text on that is harder than a higher PPI screen though.

Some people like the over-saturated colors though. Me being one of them. It makes things "pop" out at ya.smile.gif

Picked up an LG Nitro HD for 1 cent on ATT. Dual core 1.5GHz processor, 1GB of ram, 4.5in 720p screen, 8mp camera with flash and capability to record in 1080p, sleek and stylish too. Can do anything the iPhone 5 can and more.

But misguided consumers will always want the apple products because they prefer style over substance. Its like the "oh its shiny so its better" debate for gaming.

I would rather get my highly customizable LG Nitro HD for a cent than pay $200 for a locked down iPhone 5.

Not to mention, to up your storage in a droid to 32gb only costs about 30$ to do. for an iphone, you have to buy a new one leading up to 500$ or so.

It can't run iOS. wink.gif

...and the camera and screen quality are inferior to the iPhone 5.

Style is subjective.

Some people like customization while others perfer lock-down but almost always works.

Yes, I would prefer an aluminum and glass minimalist design over a plastic backed phone. Sleek and stylish are subjective.

Also, I think the iPhone has more "substance" than the Nitro in the hardware department, but that does come at a premium. After I sell off my iPhone 4 though, which holds their resale value extremely well, I'm not paying a whole lot for a 5.

Its amazing how so many people think they are actually paying $100-$200 for their iphone, galaxy s3, one x , etc. etc.
Though, it'll be nice to pay $50 for a SGS3 from a chump who wants the iphone 5
