If they went with 1280x720 they'd have to increase the width of the screen.

No it doesn't. But the 5's display has better colour accuracy, brightness, etc.

Could we please show some respect towards fellow ocn members and stop accusing each other of being fanboys? Calling someone a fanboy is rude, childish and unprofessional. Lets try to keep this forum a family friendly environment shall we? And please stop picking on one particular user...I won't name names but you know who it is.Anyone who starts bullying will get warnings/infraction.

nonono iphone 4 was 16:10, iphone 5 is 16:9. all they had to do is increase the height of the screen, which they did. The screen is still small compared to my phone though.

How about getting timely updates?
Yeah... burn. Feel it burn.

lolwut? what exactly did those updates even do for anyone on the iphone? remember when the iphone couldn't retrieve or send picture messages? I had my 3gs when that function wasn't available yet.

Also, I think the iPhone has more "substance" than the Nitro in the hardware department, but that does come at a premium. After I sell off my iPhone 4 though, which holds their resale value extremely well, I'm not paying a whole lot for a 5.

so you want to pay $200 for a shell that your gonna put a case on anyways?

must I explain the sager vs macbook debate?

$2k= gtx670sli sagerlaptop OR gtx650 macbook. pick one.

and resale value...would you pay $2000 for a gibson guitar to retain its resale value? or would you pay $300 for a guitar that does the same exact thing, has the same specs, plays the same, etc.

Do you buy a phone to sell it?

As a person with the Galaxy S3, I can confirm that the display has way too much contrast. I had to reduce the contrast for all my wallpapers in photoshop because it looks like totally crap on the S3. Also, the resolution is more like 200ppi. You can very easily see the difference between the quality of images on the iphone 5 and the S3.

The iPhone used a 3:2 aspect ratio up until the iPhone 5. They only needed to increase the height of the screen because they only increased the vertical resolution of the screen, if they had increased the horizontal resolution of the screen then they would have had to increase the width of the screen as well.

All I really want is a display that I can see in the sun. So far no phone droid or apple has had that.

I think resolution terminology is much less important than pixel density these days, and 720p would do nothing more than slightly increase power/processing resources without any gain.

And there's no comparison of the HTC One X screen in this?

Iphone 5: 640 x 1136 pixels, 4.0 inches (~326 ppi pixel density) LED-backlit IPS TFT, capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors
Galaxy SII: 720 x 1280 pixels, 4.8 inches (~306 ppi pixel density), Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors
HTC One X(L): 720 x 1280 pixels, 4.7 inches (~312 ppi pixel density), Super IPS LCD2 capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors

With the Specs listed above, the iPhone has the better screen. However, we're pretty much grasping at straws here. The One X is richer and more true in color, saturation, and angled viewing, the iPhone has better overall specs per size, and well, the GSIII is.... well, AMOLED is the latest, but not necessarily the greatest.

You have to realize that S III has about 33% less subpixels per pixel than the other two phones.
