So what you guys are saying is that I shouldn't expect more than 4 GHz with my i7 860, atleast under air? tongue.gif

im using a i7 870 and sitting with a 4gz overclock with only a measly 1.3v core with HT on.

I'm using a 860 with a 1.34v vcore. Doesn't seem that bad to me. HT on too ofcourse.

Okay guys so I fully stabilized my 4GHz OC today with the same settings I've posted earlier, only increased Vcore to 1.36V in order to fully pass IBT @ Maximum stress. Temps were in the high 80s but that's probably due to my VERY high ambient temps (Yeah yeah, my room is hot and stifling, atleast 30c-ish..) and ofcourse IBT heats things up much more than usual.

So I think I'm gonna pass on the 4.2GHz OC as I don't see how it's possible with my CPU, on air, and with my crazy ambient temps.

I'd like a few ppl with similar OCs on their i7 8xx CPUs (preferably 860) to help analyze my OC by posting theirs if possible tongue.gif

Thank you ~

Highest I can go with my 870 is 4.3 GHz at 1.40Vcore/1.4VTT. I am currently settling with 4.0 GHz at 1.33Vcore / 1.3VTT for 24/7 & I use those settings since May 2011.
4.4 GHz is stable at 1.4Vcore/1.4VTT with HyperThreading Off. But honestly I refuse to turn that off. it is not free and it is like owning an i5 not i7 IMO.
