Weird RAM spikes from 2.24GBs to 3.65GBs while exporting in Movie Maker

Just exporting a video in Movie Maker. Never noticed it before, but it could have been happening prior to when I noticed it today.

Exporting in HD 1080p.

Windows will put a program into ram and use the ram to transfer the data faster if it is available to use. It happens when you copy a file multiple times but in your case, it might be your software doing it. I first noticed it when copying Syspreped Server VHDs. The ram usage would spike to nearly full but it would be transferring at insane speeds. The RAM is supposed to drop back down to normal once it is copied, if it doesn't, then you have an issue.

Just installed some new RAM (8GB) and the spikes go from 3.35GB to 4.45GB in usage. It's definitely not the RAM, so what the hell is going on?!

the up spike is the highest point of data transfer the low spike is the buffering from your hdd if you had a faster hard drive the spikes would be MUCH higher due the the extra amount of band with and if you had faster ram would also extend the druration of how long the band with stays high up = faster transfering speeds. its completely normal u can actually duplicate the effect by transfering a movie from your desktop to an external drive.

So is it normal to occur if I am writing to my 2TB HDD without my OS or programs on it?

All I'm saying is that is it normal that these RAM spikes occur when I'm rendering the Windows Movie Maker file to my secondary HDD (without the OS on it -- solely for files)?

Thanks.
