To a certain extent, yes. More vertical space = less scrolling when dealing with web browsers and Office applications. Also, the aversion to letterboxing (black bars on my screen yuck reaction) is way overrated. In the case of viewing 1080p content on my 1200p monitor, I'm not losing any video quality despite the black bars that appear on my screen.

The black bars aren't as noticeable on a quality IPS panel :)

Indeed. I'm starting to see this screen as unnecessary. They might as well just make this screen's aspect ratio available for use on all screens capable of such resolutions. That way it's possible to just switch the resolution to what makes you happy.

To be honest though, I don't see how this screen is better for work than 2560 x 1600 or 1440. In fact it's not even wider is it? It's just got... less vertical height.

Being 29", it's got to be wider then a 27"

I meant 29" 2560 x 1080 vs another 29" 2560 x 1600 or 1440.

According to the pythagorean theorem, the 29" model is 3" wider and 2" shorter.

Compared to a 30" it's 1" wider and 6" shorter.

Which clearly is unachievable on 2560 x 1600 or 2560 x 1440 screens. Because let's face face it, less vertical pixel height means you have more horizontal screen space.

What.
