[TPU] Dell Readies the U2913WM 29-inch Monitor - Page 16

I'm still waiting on this. Due to height and shelving, I have a small 22" display that is wall mounted above my side by side 24" ultrasharps. The top display is used for maps/web browser/voice/chat/movies. With my limited space, and the fact that I do no like multi-monitor gaming, this is really exactly what I have been looking for. I would definitely call it a niche product, but as an overhead aux/media display it could be pretty cool I think.

Now we just have to hope it comes in under $500 :\

Could you imagine if this was the first venture in 120Hz beyond 1080p?

Now that would be an interesting situation.....would the resolution put you off? Hmmm....

Although it's highly probable to be a typical 60Hz IPS or TN.

Really? I find vertical space more important in dota type games to an extent.

Better to see what's in front / behind on a lane. The lanes aren't that wide so massively wide screen not that much use

I still think 16:10 best gaming res tongue.gif

I think Dell designed these with office work in mind. Horizontal space is far more important in office work.

imo its generally better with games too. increasing a 16:9 a few inches still makes the image feel trapped vertically, a 24" 16:10 doesn't suffer from this vs a 24" 16:9
post #157 of 201
How is this better than existing 27" 2560x1440 or 30" 2560x1600 displays?

Sure, it's wide, but compared to a 1440P or 1600P panel you don't gain any horizontal resolution, and you're losing 30-50% vertical resolution. So that argument of "you can now have 2 windows open side by side" is total BS since you could do that on a 1440 or 1600P monitor AND not have to scroll nearly as much vertically.

Exactly. The only use I can see for this monitor is 2.35:1 movies or those people that want a wider field of view for games. 1080 vertical resolution is horrible for spreadsheets/office work etc. Considering how inexpensive 1440P monitors are these days, I don't see the point of this Dell.

I don't get it, it's just a downgrade from my 2560 x 1440? Like squish it = super widescreen.

The point?

Movie nuts really. Although given the price these things will be, may as well get a 1080p TV.
