[TPU] Dell Readies the U2913WM 29-inch Monitor - Page 9

If you are gaming on a 30" 16:10 2560x1600 display I hope you are not playing anything competitive as you are at a serious disadvantage.
In first person shooters maybe. Though even there I've never found the input lag to be noticeable.

In MMOs and MOBAs, I'd always prefer the larger screen real estate.

I can see WAY more at this resolution, both horizontally and vertically.
I have a major field of view advantage over anyone stuck at those lowly resolutions.

You are incredibly mistaken, please post some screenshots and I will prove you wrong, also 30" is too big to play at and be able to see everything without having to occasionally scan around you will miss stuff.

If you do post screen shots DO NOT use a program too zoom out the fov as I can do that to at 1080p.

I use a 30", and both aren't true tongue.gif

Most games don't give you more or less FOV, they scale properly. You can't see anything more then someone with a 1080p monitor.

There is also no problem with being able to see everything. A 30" monitor can still easily fit in your field of vision.

Maybe if you back up, but if you ask any high level / professional players they will support that it is too big. The only true test would consist of someone making a video and different things would have to happen at the edges and see what you did and did not notice at different sizes.

Most high-level players will say it doesn't matter one way or another.
Unless they have a sponsor for specific hardware.

These are the same people that maintain the absurd notion that the human eye can't perceive motion greater than 24/25/30/60 fps, and yet refuse to play counterstrike 1.6 with anything less than 2000fps.

People refuse to play CS 1.6 with anything less then "2000fps" is because of how the engine performs at higher fps, not because of the actual framerate being viewed.

& it is common knowledge now that you can percieve more then 60fps, if you need cold hard proof, get access to a 120hz monitor and video editing software, create a video that cuts the frames from 120->60 and anyone even people who have never played a videogame will be like *** happened.

The heck are you talking about? I play all games on a 30" and it is fine. I find games to be far better on the bigger screen because my UI / screen elements are much larger and easiier to see, in WoW for example.

You don't have to tilt your head or "scan" as you say it. I sit 3" away from my u3011 and I have never ever done that. Im pretty sure I would have to squint though if I had to use a tiny 23 or 24. I'll pass on that.
