PC upgrade for SILENCE! = are these parts this a good choice? - Page 3

If you get a case with good airflow, and remove all of your unused backplane slots so air will move past your gpu, you could get a fanless gpu like this.

According to this, the HD 7750 is two steps up from the 8800GT.

I am not going to place the parts myself so i don't really know about the airflow.

I will get the silencio 550 case, is this a bad case for airflow? But isn't it suposed to be good for silencing? Better to silence the fans and get a case with more airflow? Im confused.

Does the card heat up a lot without airflow? More than my 8800 GT with a stock cooler? According to this here the HD4000 has half the performance of my 8800 GT. It probably will work for now but if i want to play a newer game it'll be rather bad, no ?

The Arctic L2 Plus is 13€, but the thing is, switching coolers on graphic cards costs me 20 € on the store. I cant do it myself nor know anyone who can. Plus, i can't add coolers on graphic cards still in warranty.
I dont know if it's correct but according to Cooler Master Homepage it can only fit coolers with a height of 154mm wich would be a bad thing..

It's hard to say whats good for you, but if you think you might be happy with the HD4000 IGP i would get a new CPU/Board (eg.: i3 3220 + ASRock H77M) and a new cooler thats works good with low airflow, maybe Scythe Ninja 3 or Thermalright HR-02 Macho, then sell your old stuff on ebay. You can always buy a VGA Card later on if it's really needed.

Also whats your case? you might not need another case.

Well, my case is a Cooler Master 330B, but the side panel is missing ( i somehow lost it when doing some experiments - was ages ago, forgot how that happened )

I am not really fond of the idea of downgrading from the 8800 GT in terms of performance. The thing is, i ocasionally play games, but if i want a newer game, i have no other platform to get it, i sold my consoles lol.

Can you find me a very quiet graphic card (well screw it, even its not passive, but it's gotta be super silent!) on 100? What happens if my case doesnt have good airflow and i use a passive card?
I would swap out the GPU for a 7770, those things are pretty silent. a 7750 would be okay, but normally you can catch the 7770 on sale for the price of the 7750 which is a much better GPU.

If you want to just "play" games. I would just grab an APU and a silent cooling solution wink.gif

You dont need "good" airflow, i'm just saying that it might get too hot when you have virtually NO airflow.

Sugegstions:

-Fractal Design Arc Mini
-Scythe Mine 2
-bequiet Straight Power E9 400W
-Sapphire Ultimate Radeon HD 7750
-3x Enermax TB Silence fan (1x front, 1x cpu cooler 1x back/top=

.

The Accelero GPU cooler is a good unit. I've used it on a GTS 250 and a GTX 450. I also put a low rpm 140mm fan, like 800rpm, on the cooler. Absolutely silent and great temps. I def recommend it; versatile and well preforming cooler.

Thats kind of costly! What are the 3 enermax fans for, since you suggested mine 2 for the cpu cooler?

Why Scythe Mine 2 btw? Why not the Enermax TB 40 others sugested? And the fractal design, seems a lot for a case no? How would it help in the noise department,it doenst seem to be built that way.

Since the coolermaster silencio 550 is hot as hell, can't we work out like... a cheap decent case with very low noise fans? I see all the noise silencing cases are either ridiculously expensive or have terrible airflow

ps: i'm sorry if i am beeing annoying or dont seem to settle for anything :$

-Because the Mine 2 is the better cooler, and should be even cheaper than the Enermax (in Europe that is). The stock fan it comes with tends to produce sidenoises though, that's why i would get an additional Enermax TB Sielnc efan for that.
I have no idea what the prices are exactly in portugal so it's hard to judge for me. You could also get the Enermax Cooler and run it at minimum speed. The Mine 2 + TB Silence would be what i'd recommend over here since it's roudhly as much € as the Enermax cooler but cools a bit better.

-It doesnt hurt, but you dont really need a silent case if you use very slow spinning quality fans like the Enermax TB Silence.
-You could get the Silencio 550, but again, it cant fit Coolers taller than 154mm according to cooler master.
Isnt the Fractal R3 similarly priced btw?
-There are almost no cases that come with quality stock fans.

I would just get any halfway decent Case like the Fractal Core 3000 or a Xigmatek Midgard, that can fit a big enough cooler, and put two enermax tb silence fans in there.

if you can giuve me exactly the website/shop you can buy at i can try to help you a bit better?

Well, Bitfenix uses good quality fans (Bitfenix Spectre's (not the Pro ones though)), but the cheapest is about 85€. You could also go with something like the Corsair Carbide 300R and run the fans at 7 volt, either with a fan controller or a voltage adapter. Those fans are of lesser quality however. Another option is buying a cheap case with multiple fan mounts and buy good silent fans to fill them up with. The thing is, if you want a high quality, silent PC, you're going to have to pay for it.
