So confused - fans and heatsinks

Thread Starter
Hello everyone,
Basically, i just bought some new components for my PC. An AMD phenom ii x4 965 BE cpu, a asrock extreme3 970 mobo and 8GBs of DDR3 1600 MHz RAM to go alongside my existing GPU, PSU, HDDs etc.

I also purchased a : Xigmatek Thor's Hammer S126384 (CAC-SXHH7-U01) HDT Cooler HDT Cooler (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B001VDOJ02/ref=ox_ya_os_product)

Reading a review of it, it says it doesn't come with a fan...
Would this work with a stock fan? I'm planning on overclocking but not to extreme levels?
Should i return it? (it's already dispatched mind you)
Or should i order a fan?

If i'm still going to get good temperatures with the stock fan then there's no point returning it...

What does it do also xD?
Cheers!

Would it fit in an average sized case too?
And would it work with my CPU/mobo?

Sorry for the barage of questions I'm just rather confused right now... never really dealt with cooling before.

the heatsink I linked are better than that heatsink w/ 1 or 2 fans ....

oh but the hassle! XD
I can't return it yet since it hasn't arrived... so what about my original question? How would that work with the stock fan?

I'm still confused about what thing does what?

What i gather is that i've bought quite a heavy duty heatsink that doesn't come with any aftermarket fans (coolers).

EDIT: I'm perfectly happy to purchase some seperate 120mm fans that'll attach to my xigatek HDT.

I'm still clueless though T.T

this as a passive heatisn does great work but with fans is worse 2 or 4°C with OC than the heatsink I linked..

Ah thanks very much. I'm not going to be overclocking to such a degree that miniscule amounts such as these matter.

Would it fit in an average sized case?

Would I need an extra fan or two? (are these CPU fans or just standard 120mm fans)?

These two are the only questions I have left, you've been so helpful! Thanks a lot!

Last I remember the Thor's Hammer is a great heatsink. Don't return it just because it doesn't come with a fan. A stock fan will be fine until you can get something better. I don'[t know what kind of noise levels you are willing to tolerate so a recommendation on a fan is kinda hard. You got everything from slow and silent to monster 3000rpm jet turbines. But you should be fine. Even a slow fan will do well on that heatsink.

which case is ?

I tried to put a 212+ in a CM nv 334 and it ddint fit(didnt close side panel)

a 120mm fan like XSPC Xinruilain 2000 RPM or Scythe Kaze Jyuni 1900 120mm can do a great job
