I just got done moving and figured, while everything was taken apart, why not break open my i7-3770K and apply a little squirt of Arctic Silver 5 to the little guy. Keep in mind, I am not experienced, nor is anyone I know. So with that being said, I looked up as much info as I could and gave it a try. It was easier than I thought to de-lid the proc, but cleaning the black glue was a bit of a pain. Then I thought, well since I have HS off, why not lap it. I know, I know. You’re an idiot. But I really wanted to try it, and its mine. So let’s move on. It’s a work in progress, and I’m doing it in stages, all at once. LOL. So far, this is what I got. I suppose I’ll find out how bad I f’d this sucker up when I get it back in. But I thought either this would be a good chance to show it’s not as hard as it sounds….or a “what NOT to do” guide for anyone who is considering any of the above. This will not be scientific in any way. I will not be trying to go and have the fastest proc ever. It was just plain old curiosity. Enjoy.
