Yeah it was pretty bad, The performance wasn't not good especially considering the price when other coolers that could do better could be had for cheaper, also it has problems with some ram chips.

the 12X seems to be better than the 14X. But thats more extrapolation from the very few avaible reviews:

http://www.cowcotland.com/articles/1132-3/test-ventirad-cpu-zalman-cnps14x.html

Even with three fans it seems to be like 10+ degrees worse than the elite coolers with a serious overclock.

This thing is ugly as sin and judging the size of its heat pipes and its overall dimensions, I seriously doubt it can match the real 'king' Phanteks PH-TC14PE simply because the Phanteks would have more surface area.
look at the test above, it's not even close to the phanteks

Zalman is the one with the fanlike coolers... Their stuff is more for aesthetics in a windowed case than crap-brown Noctuas.

The noise levels are okay with one fan at load though. "With one fan it is near silent with a 46 dB rating, but when the three fans received 12V to them, the vibration also rose and I got a 59 dB rating with the vibrations and fans combined.

What bugs me is how they consider 46 dB to be quiet. 30 dB is quiet, not 46. 25 dB is silent. I have no idea how far they are measuring from the sound source though (looks like an open bench test).

If it's 46dB 10cm away from the heatsink, then inside a case 1m away from you it might be near-silent. Also if they have something like 40dB of ambient noise, 46dB is quite nice.

The fact that you cant replace the middle fan is a no-go for me though, not even going into the aesthetic aspect.s wink.gif

You can always remove the middle fan.

sure i can, but then i cant use their clips to put on a standard fan in the middle. And yes i could use zipties or whatever. But why would i do that when i could just get a better product in the first place.
