[Crucial] m4 010G Firmware is out!

Thread Starter
Release Date: 09/25/2012

Firmware for the Crucial m4 2.5” SSD is being updated from version 000F to 010G.

The m4 is updatable to this new firmware starting from any previous version in a single step.

This is an OPTIONAL update for any drive in the field. It is only recommended if the end user is experiencing an issue related to the following items.
Do NOT use any other m4 firmware update for your 2.5” SSD such as the 01MG firmware for the mSATA form factor.

Version 010G includes the following changes:
  • Improved Trim response time
  • Improved power-on-to-ready time (known as POR, or TTR for Time-to-ready)
  • Improved resume-time from low power modes, and improved reliability of warm reboot
  • Improved power consumption by disabling HIPM (Host Initiated Power Management)

Sweet, updating. +Rep
Updated fine with the update tool and the SATA mode set to RAID mode. biggrin.gif

EDIT: My issue was a false alarm. 3 broken Windows repair/OS install disks later i figured it out. I was in disk management earlier and accidentally marked my secondary drive as active and forgot about remarking the OS drive as active. XD.

What's the part about not supporting UEFI about?
Quote:
This firmware update does not support UEFI. If you are using a UEFI based system please do not download this Firmware. As soon as we have a Firmware Update that will work in these applications we will release it.

If that's for the Windows install it's maybe a warning for those who've installed Windows in UEFI mode instead of BIOS, not that you have UEFI BIOS itself.

Yep, exactly the same as before for me. Actually slightly better 4k reads/writes for me, a few MB/s on writes and 1/2MB/s better read. Still haven't fixed that high queue depth performance drop. I miss my benches and don't feel like secure erasing...they should make a tool for that by now. frown.gif
