This really isn't a simple answer and is entirely dependent on what you want it for, and for the most part, it comes down to the OS.

I much prefer Snow Leopard (and especially Lion) to Windows 7. I use both every day (and have used Lion a few times) and whilst I love Windows 7, it just lacks the overall neatness, simplicity and ease-of-use of Snow Leopard. If you want a simple example, compare the Windows 7 control panel to Snow Leopard's System Preferences and you should see my point.

Not to mention many features such as Expose, Spaces, Quick Look, etc., that Windows 7 lacks. Whilst there may be third party applications for these, I'd challenge you to find one that works as well, and as smoothly as it does on Snow Leopard. I'm aware Windows has Win+Tab but that just isn't comparable to Expose.

And Lion is just around the corner and it improves greatly upon these things and many more. A very pleasant benefit to having a Mac is the cheap price to upgrade the OS. Snow Leopard was cheap despite having heaps of under-the-hood improvements, and Lion again is really cheap -- $30 and its licensed for every Mac you own.

Ultimately, for general use, I use an iMac. It's got a great screen, powerful hardware for an all-in-one, my preferred OS, and a nice form factor. It does lack a little in the graphics department (4850M) but its still a reasonably capable chip for gaming (which I do often).

If I wanted a machine just for or primarily for gaming, I would build a PC. Whilst the 2011 iMacs performance reasonably well in games (and more so under Windows) (especially w/ the 6970M) and some are more than happy with the performance it offers, I'd want something more powerful and something I can update regularly with better graphics cards.

Well, I hear that the one program available for Mac works real good....

Then there is the cost/performance ratio, which I am assuming anyobdy on THIS site should know PC wins hands down. I have really only used Macs a few times and never for any length of time. 25 years ago Macs seemed very intuitive and easy to use compared to PCs, but that has since evened out. I guess Macs have less problems overall, but what point is having a smooth running box with diddley for programs/games? Mac is simply a good dog that don't hunt.

My vote is PC.

I didn't read every post here, but the ones I did never mentioned the general loathing and distrust of Mr. Bill as compared to a bit better public image (actual LOVE it seems from the true Mackies)for Jobs. This is changing too though, and unfortunately it isn't Bill getting more likable. It seems like every week a new revelation is made by the Jobs/Mac camp relating to underhanded things like the latest "Oh, did we say that iphones were not designed to spy on you? So sorry- they really are. Too bad."

According to OCN, macs don't exist because they don't have a section.

Mmm? I'm pretty sure you can re-download your music, movies, apps, books, ringtones, and whatever else you've purchased from iTunes or the Mac App Store, for free. I may be wrong about movies and being able to re-download your music is pretty new I think.
