Borderlands 2 Dedicated PhysX Card - Page 2

Well it does help yes,I've put my old 8800GT in my system and set it as physx,i'm seeing higher low's and higher average's.
Its very noticeable imo.

Min, Max, Avg > GTX480 Physx
37, 63, 52

Min, Max, Avg > GTX480+8800GT
41, 64, 59

I've seen a maximum of about 80% load on the 8800GT.
Settings in game are 1200p,everything max ,except for FXAA off and i'm using SMAA injector.480 is at 580 speeds.8800GT is stock.

*edit, after looking at scenes with alot of physx effects it noticed that when the 8800GT exceeds about 70%usage ,i get big framedrops.Looks like the 8800GT is slowing the rest down now mad.gif

Until I read your edit I was about to question if you ever get slowdowns. I've used a 9800GT occationally for PhysX and in most cases I've seen nothing but bottlenecking towards my 580. Not to say it doesnt work, only when there's a lot as you mentioned.

I posted benchmarks for a GTX 680 + either a GTX 580 SC or a GT 640 as dedicated PhysX with Borderlands 2 here. Long story short - the GT 640 trades punches with the GTX 580 SC as a dedicated PhysX card for the GTX 680. They both give you ~20% performance gain. That's no slouch.

EDIT: and it's likely that at $20 you picked up the gimped OEM version of the GT 640. I believe it has 1/3 or less CUDA cores. Caveat Emptor.
