Is this legitimate?

If so, wow...

I don't want to be like most people here that hate Apple just to hate Apple, or because they think Apple is immoral in their business endeavors, but I mean let's be honest, for a company that releases 1 maybe 2 phones a year, this is kinda disappointing.

While this is definitely a quality issue that should not just be tossed aside as "normal", I am not that concerned as I have had a screen protector and case on every one of my iPhones. When it comes time to upgrade, my trade-in will net more on eBay than a scratched-up, dinged-up iPhone.

Perhaps "scuffgate" and "antennagate" were both just ploys to increase case sales?

I have no idea why anyone would ever have their phone without a case. , but its pretty bad if they're arriving scratched while still in the packaging.

It looks like Apple is being reluctant about replacing them too. They're likely well aware that there was a good amount of units with scuffs/cheap paint work. They likely rushed them out past QA to meet their release schedule.

I'm sure plenty of them are "perfect" without scratches, but I don't see how anyone could want a nice smartphone that gets scratched and scuffed that easily. The issue isn't whether customers use a case or not. Why should anyone be forced to buy a case for their phone? I personally take VERY good care of my phones (even the cheapass little ones I've had) and rarely, if ever, drop them. I rarely leave my Nexus naked just because it is very sleek with the case I bought. I don't even like seeing my Galaxy Nexus's matte black CASE scratched/scuffed.

Well finally they went and said it xD Nothing unexpected though ( You are holding it wrong)

Am i the only one who finds the whole idea of buying a 750 dollar-ish product and then have it chip easily, and then be told it was because you didn't buy a case for it kinda stupid??

What is up with that, that's like saying "Well darn, we knew it was gonna chip very easily, but let's sell it at this price point anyway and then expect people to shell out even more cash to protect their already pricey investment."

No thanks, if i buy a phone i expect it to be a full product in and of itself, not needing extra gizmos and cases and so on to function on a basic level.

I still have my Sony Ericson s700i, works like a charm. I can safely say that any modern phone made with that swivel mechanism would break in a year, yet this still works and the screen barely has any scratches. Only thing wrong really is the paint has been worn off in some areas after years and years of use. Now that is quality.

Edit: Another thing, why go out and make a pretty phone, and then make people cover it up with cases anyway to protect that beauty, seems like backwards logic.

I said the exact same thing in another thread.

It just seems really odd that after purchasing a $750 product, I need to buy a $5 product to keep it from falling apart.
