2500k mobo and software vcore

I recently installed a Intel 2500k and Sapphire Pure P67.

Now if I put in BIOS vcore to 1.45v then start HWINFO32 for logging and start Intel Burn Test then the MAX vcore according to HWINFO32 is 1.356v.

If I put BIOS vcore to 1.55v(!!) then the MAX vcore in HWINFO32 is 1.376v.

If I put in BIOS vcore to 1.45v and 4.5Ghz then the Intel Burn Test give me BSOD, but then the HWINFO32 vcore is 1.356v.

The 2500k I bought used and it's previous owner has been running it at 1.45v and 4.9Ghz.

1.356V and 1.376V sound like VIDs to me.  Real Temp and Core Temp would display them as 1.3561V and 1.3761V.

 

What does CPU-Z say the core voltage is?

Yes youre right, my bad.

there is vcore in HWINFO and it's simply called Vcore, however this motherboard that I today install seems to always have too low readings.
When putting Vcore to AUTO it reads MIN 0.600v, MAX 0.848v and now in IDLE Current: 0.632v

So far I have had BIOS DEFAULT and just increasing multiplier to 42x and IBT (Intel Burn Test) crashes after just 2 runs.

41x is 100% stable at this stressing: 2hour small FFT Prime95 + 20runs IBT 2048mb (High) stable with in BIOS everything at DEFAULT besides the multiplier.

There's a chance that it may still be unstable because 2 hours of the Small FFTs is, first of all, almost nothing.  To start with, the Blend test is more stressful because it also stresses the Integrated Memory Controller which means that it stresses the entire CPU as opposed to just a part of it.  Going further, 2 hours of any test in Prime95 isn't enough because it's not the length of time, but how many of the FFT sizes it can get through, and there are about enough to last approximately 24 hours - especially in the Blend test.  So, that's why ~24 hours is usually recommended, and that's what I prefer to recommend as well.

 

Regarding IBT:  it's actually a waste of time, especially if you have both of the following:  Prime95 v27.7 build 2 and SP1 of Windows 7.  I mean, if you have Prime95 v27.7 build 2 and SP1 of Windows 7, then you're also stressing the CPU using the AVX instruction set while IBT cannot do that right now.  This makes Prime95 superior to everything at the moment (again, if you have v27.7 build 2 and SP1 of Win7).

 

I don't know this motherboard, but if it's anything like other P67 boards, then using "Auto" for the vcore when overclocking isn't a good idea because it can use a voltage that's much higher than needed.  What core voltage are you seeing under full load right now?

Yeah well my motherboard sensing of voltage is way off, it shows MAX: 0.848v this is what was shown when stressing it 100% all 4 cores, IDLE it is 0.632v, and MIN is 0.600v.
but I guess that number is maybe 0.4-0-6v too little.

BIOS is alld DEFAULT besides multiplier that is 41x all 4 cores.

I have Push Pull Mugen 2 Rev B, the MAX core is 74c, there is a 9c core difference my cooles MAX core is 65c.
Also there is a CPU sensor this MAX is 76c
So my guess is vcore is still safe even at AUTO in BIOS, maybe the vcore is 1.25-1-35v considering Mugen is a air cooler (It's Massive and cools imo good for air).

If I just change multiplier to 42x then IBT gives warning.
Also atm I want to find comfortable temps/clocks.

I would hope for 4.5-4.7Ghz range and if Prime95 is under 80c that's good.
Only CPU intensive for me is gaming so I guess if Prime95 is 80c then BF3 is 50-80c at most.

CPU-Z has started giving me error code when I start the program, when I tried open CPU-Z first time it show nothing on voltage, 2nd time restarting CPU-Z it shows exact same values as HWINFO so CPU-Z aswell shows 0.832v under load.

Edit--> I now tried keeping everything same as before but increasing vcore to 1.40v.
The temperatures are similar to as when AUTO Vcore.

However with 1.40v I have similar vcore under load (0.856v) but now under IDLE the vcore goes to 0.928v

AUTO vcore gave me 102-103Gflops in IBT, 1.40v gives me 99-100Gflops so seems like performance decreased...

Actually the new versions of IBT do support AVX, as does Linx. You can also download the libraries manually from Intel to update the older versions by hand.

Actually, we need to forget about everything else right now and focus on finding a way to see what the actual core voltage is in Windows.  It's my strong recommendation that everything else be on hold until this is figured out.
