Overclocking my Intel Core 2 duo e7400-CRASHED!!

Hey guys! I need a little help regarding my cpu.
I just upgraded my gpu from HD 4870 - Gtx 480 coz battlefield 3 is giving me a 17 fps.
After i installed my gpu.. i tried overclocking my cpu from 2.8 ghz to 3.2ghz.. running at 1.2562volts.(305mhz x 10.5 clock ratio)
Then i started the stress test using prime95.. i got my temps right around 45-47 bought core. afterwards I play bf3, well its was running fine but still i getting low fps at 24 .. but running 40's average. then it CRASHED..
I know that with my CPU, I can push it p to 3.6 ghz with volts not exceeding to 1.4v..
Do I need more voltage at that fsb? or should I lower my fsb?

When i was using the e7400,it wasn't giving me problem when i was at 3.1Ghz or lower.3.2Ghz,crashing non-stop like crazy biggrin.gif But since you can push it up to 3.6 and i was able only to 3.4 with being able to boot,i guess my chip was bad but afterall,it worth the try with 3.1 wink.gif

BF3 hates dual cores... u'll need a Q9650 to even play it decently, as that GPU is starved terribly by only having two cores. TBH, quad-cores is the norm for games nowadays and has moved beyond dual cores... i say only a Ivy-Bridge dual core would even count nowadays.

True that! From HD 6850 and e7400 to i5-3570k and hd 6850...the difference is day and night. From playing with 40fps on low to playing with around 55-60 on High!

ive ran a gtx 580 on a decent 550w before... nvidia says 600w because a lot of people have crappy psus that says 600w when it's really 500w, so my point is, they avoid lawsuits from idiots with crappy psus.

and its the amount of amps, not wattage, that counts for powering a card on the 12v rail.
