So i was thinking of what parts i need for my PC and i have picked out a graphics card and power supply that i want to buy with my first EMA just wanted to ask would it work i am going to get the evga gtx 550ti with a OCZ 500 watt coreXstream series my cpu is a AMD althon II x4 640 with 8gb of ram and a asus M5A78L-M LX if you think different parts would be better please say can spend anymore then what it costs me for these two items which is about 120-125 pound thanks guys:)

Well first off, yes those parts will work together, so no worries about that. As for suggesting different parts, it's hard to do so without knowing what you want to use it for. My guess is you're just looking for a well performing mid-ish level system, judging by your parts, in which case you're probably best off keeping what you've got selected, as the parts would serve you well.

If you're looking for something else a bit more specific, post some more details so people can help narrow things down smile.gif

A gtx 650 is slightly faster for the basically same price, not to mention less power and heat, which also equates to less noise.

Not knowing the market trends and pricing where you are it is hard to say what will be the best value for your needs. A 550Ti is a good all around GPU if it's priced right. The 7750/7770 options might be a touch better for modern games, however, older games would probably run better on the 550Ti.

I'm not a huge fan of OCZ given various track records (though I spun the dice on RAM for my system a couple years back and it's fine). If you have other PSU options from better brands to choose from that would be ideal. A Corsair or PC Power and Cooling or Antec or (there are others worth a look), well, i'm not sure what you have available.

It's hard to tell what you have purchased, or what you intend to purchase, based on your post. Please clarify specifically what you have, and what you are thinking about buying. The intended purpose of the machine is also critical. The more we know about what you plan to do, the better recommendations you will get.

Regards,
Eric
