¿Do I have to play the "firsts"?

Hi guys smile.gif

In a couple of days I'll be getting a new graphic card. Looking at this generation games I was wondering if it's really worth it to play the "first ones".

I'm a casual gamer, nothing extreme. The ones I would really want to play are Borderlands, Dirt, FIFA. In a second place, this ones caught my attention: Assassins Creed, Batman, Crysis, Formula 1, Battlefield.

Borderlands: I asked around and I was told that I don't have to play the first one. The second is like the first but way better in every aspect (not to throw rubbish to the first one, it's a great game).

Assassins Creed: I've played half the campaign of the first one but I left it because it was geting pretty boring, same mission over and over again. Do I go straight to the 2?

Batman: No idea here. What do you guys say? Do I play arkham asylum or go directly to arkham city?

Crysis: Same as Batman.

Of course, there are a few that I'll go for the latest, like FIFA, Dirt or Formula 1. But about the other ones, What do you think?

Assassins creed 1 Yes play the 1st to get the story down, try to talk to Lucy and do all of the niglys in the animus room too if you can.

Batman Arkham asylum is a must play, people say its better than Arkham City anyways.

Borderlands 1 i have no opinion on.

Crysis same as AC1 go for the story and the graphics are better than 2.

Honestly for Borderlands 1, if you want to catch the ending for storyline purposes just look it up on youtube. That said, I don't really think the storyline was the main focus for Borderlands, for me it was all about the gameplay and the LOOT! It's an extremely fun playthrough (meaning the journey was great, but the ending fell flat for me) and I loved it, but after about 8 hours of Borderlands 2, you would NOT be missing much at all by skipping Borderlands 1, just dive into Borderlands 2.

Just dive right into Borderlands 2, the first was good but it was mainly about the humor and loot. For the Assassins Creed franchise I imagine that they need to be played in order to really appreciate everything that's going on, I personally couldn't get into the game no matter how much I tried but that's just me. Crysis is actually a really good game, although I would say that the stories aren't really connected, I played Crysis Warhead instead of the original original and I loved it. Crysis 2 is good also. Don't have any feedback on Batman though, hope this helped

Borderlands: I've only started playing the second, but it doesn't seem to rely on the originals story much, the first ones story wasn't very strong, was a fun game though, great co-op, I would say just get the 2nd game

Assassins Creed: I also got bored half way through the first, never bothered to try the rest

Batman: Arkham Asylum was epic, recommend playing it. As for Arkham City, I was enjoying it, but lost my save after a format, and haven't been in the mood to replay 2/3 of the game again, but it was just as fun though, you cant go wrong with either

Crysis: I would say skip the original, The beginning of the game is epic, but it's ruined half way through by the aliens. The 2nd game was way more consistent, and the story doesn't heavily rely on the first games story, most of it you could pick up in the begging of the game

For Assassin's creed, don't bother with the 1st part. Gets real boring.

Read up on the plot on Wikipedia and jump straight to AC II. It just gets plain epic from there. Brotherhood is equally epic and Revelations serves as a satisfying end to Altair and Ezio's journey. Emotions run high smile.gif

I'd play Crysis 1 first since its what made the franchise what it is (compared to the run-of-the-mill hollywood game that crysis 2 was)

I can't believe that anyone would consider skipping Crysis, even for one second. It's one of the best games ever made, and the last real flagship PC title. If you haven't played Far Cry, then you should realy try that before Crysis - Far Cry is where Crysis has it's roots.

And definitely play Assassin's Creed. The story and combat is better than AC2, and the setting is awesome. Yes, it's a little repetitive, but it's still well worth playing. Sometimes I thing the whole world has ADD - And I thought I had a short attention span...
