I'm shopping for curved needles and found these for 4$:

OhHGV.jpg

Problem is I get 3 of them but in different sizes, no two needles that are equal, is that really an issue? Is it must to buy two packs?

Btw, I just a found a seller for the exact same nylon bead used in the FrankNSteinPC video:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NO-STRETCH-NYLON-BEAD-CORD-THREAD-NECKLACE-STRINGING-10-COLOURS-4-Sizes-/180971423560?pt=UK_Crafts_JewelleryMaking_GL&var=&hash=item2a22bcc748

They have the exact size and length product! order while they last. biggrin.gif

Edit:

Bought 3 of these:

OB3SX.jpg

and one in white...who knows, maybe I'll find use for it with white sleeving or something.

* I noticed each size comes in specific length. E.g., Size 6 only comes in 18 yards.
** If you order via ebay.co.uk you get the option to shop with a cart so you can instantly get the combined shipping cost (without messaging the seller).

I used the two different sized curved needles in one package for a short time. I bought the second package so that I could have two large curved needles and two small curved needles. I like using the same size curved needles for a single sew line. I use the small ones for tight radius cable bends and the larger ones for everything else.

I don't think I would use 100% nylon thread if it is smooth. I like the poly/cotton blend threads because they have a texture that gives them some friction. This friction will hold the wires in place while I "tie off" the knot.

Cheers,

You refer to the Beadsmith stuff?

I dunno, in the FrankNSteinPC video, he says that he tried many types until he found this one which works the best. I guess he wouldn't have recommended it otherwise. :|~

Not specifically. I do not know if the Beadsmith thread is smooth or not. If it is smooth, then it would not work well for me.

Aha. Well, I have no clue... I guess if it worked for FrankNSteinPC through out his entire rig, it should work for me. smile.gif

Guys, the "official" name of such needles is called "curved quilt needles". Better use that term when searching for them.

Found same ones used in this tut: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hand-Sewing-Repair-Needles-Assorted-by-Dritz-Notion-D54-/150511311330?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item230b2c59e2

Also found these:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-DRITZ-BLUE-RIBBON-CURVED-NEEDLES-TYING-QUILTS-UPHOLSTERY-2-SIZES-/150896362003?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item23221fc213

Good thing about them is you get 2x of the same size.

Well done - I really like the colors used - "Frank N Stein" would be proud!

Nice tutorial BTW, good detailed pictures. FYI, the reason I chose the non-stretch nylon after multiple other kinds was due to minimal breakages during the sew - sucks when you get 3/4 of the way through a row and snap - #$%^&*()_+ seems to fly right afterwards. Yeah, about 40 min per row is about right, and yes it does add up.
