The Arctic cooling Accelero stuff (http://www.arctic.ac/en/p/cooling/vga/430/accelero-s1-plus.html?c=2182) is $43 and I'm making a number cruncher, so is there anything faster for OpenCL (using Firepro V4900 as benchmark for speed and noise)?

Quote:
* S1 PLUS Turbo Module is required for sufficient cooling capacity on the following VGA cards.

NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250, 240(OEM), 150(OEM), GT 9800GTX+, 9800GTX, 9800GT, 9600GT, 8800GTS 512(G92), 7950GT

AMD Radeon HD 7870, 7850, 6870, 6850, 6790, 5850, 5830, 4870, 4850, 4830, 1900XTX, 1950Pro, 1950GT, 1900XTX, 1900XT, 1800XT
so maybe HD 7770 is possible (less than HD 7850 130W TDP / HD 6850 151W TDP)?

fanless

$70 SAPPHIRE Ultimate Radeon HD 6670 1GB

$80 ASUS EAH6770 DC SL/2DI/1GD5 Radeon HD 6770 1GB (HD 6770 DirectCu Silent)

$150? Gigabyte Radeon HD 6770 Silent Series

$45 ASUS GeForce GT 610 Fanless (slower than HD 7750 for sure)

$100 HIS iSilence H775P1GD Radeon HD 7750 1GB

$110 SAPPHIRE Ultimate Radeon HD 7750 1GB

$110 PowerColor Go! Green AX7750 1GBD5-NH Radeon HD 7750 1GB

$120 ASUS HD7750-DCSL-1GD5 Radeon HD 7750 1GB

$??? ZOTAC GeForce GT 640 ZONE Edition <-- GT 640 is supposed to be slower than HD 7750 IIRC

$??? Gainward Phantom GTX 560TI

$??? Sapphire Ultimate Radeon HD 7770

Powercolor HD6850 SCS3 1GB - discontinued

There's 2 cards for $600+ with Liquid cooling (and the aftermarket liquid cooling solutions typically put fans on top), but that's unreasonable.

I've read that Sapphire Vapor-X/ Asus Direct Cu II/ MSI Twin Frozr with two 80-90mm or larger fans is usually more silent, but I doubt they are silent as 120-140mm Noctua / Thermalright X-Silent / Corsair Quiet Edition / Antec TrueQuiet / Scythe Gentle Typhoons.

2 fans

$150ish SAPPHIRE VAPOR-X HD 7770 ... supposedly 25dB noise http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/Sapphire/HD_7770_Vapor-X/27.html

MSI HD 6950 Twin Frozr III=38db -66dB at load
(http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/HD_6950_Twin_Frozr_III/22.html , http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/4072/msi_radeon_hd_6950_2gb_twin_frozr_iii_pe_oc_ed_video_card_review/index16.html)

HD 7850 Reference = 43.5dB - 50dB
(http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-7870-review-benchmark,3148-20.html, http://www.anandtech.com/show/5625/amd-radeon-hd-7870-ghz-edition-radeon-hd-7850-review-rounding-out-southern-islands/17)

Asus HD 7950 DirectCU II = 34.8dB - 36.7dB at load
(http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-7950-review-benchmark,3207-12.html)

MSI HD 7970 Lightning =41.5dB (obviously this is too powerful for passive cooling)

Any suggestions? Or should I spring for the $178 Asus HD 7850 on Newegg?
Also, I didn't see any support list on Thermalright for the current GTX 500 series, GTX 600 series , HD 6000 series, HD 7000 series.
