It was plastic, right?

I'll try. I don't like being put on hold for an absurd amount of time like sometimes.
lol I know that feeling; I just tried to call my ISP, Rogers, to deal with something, and they put me on hold 5 times with an awful song playing.

Metal. Stainless steel. I was gonna use a plastic but I couldn't find one.

bigeyedsmiley.png I would never have the nerve to use a metal spoon on my computer parts. I would never be able to do this delid in the first place, though; I have really shaky hands when I am dealing with expensive computer parts. Changing my GPU cooler was hard enough; I almost hit the PCB with a screw driver a couple times.

bumping this thread cause i gotta question i couldnt find the answer to anywhere.

is anyone running their ivy bridge completely delidded? and didnt bother putting the IHS back on?

like say mounting their waterbock or heatsink directly onto the die itself?

yea, we have some members in the "Delidded Ivy Bridge Club" that run ivy without IHS, direct on the die smile.gif
maybe they will answer you here, otherwise ask over there thumb.gif
Sonda5 is on of our specialist, using waterblock on bare die etc..

I've tried direct myself but I didn't see an improvement so I just put it back on.

Okay thanks for the replies! One more question, wouldn't it be easier to remove the IHS if you lightly hit it with a heat gun to warm up the glue? Same idea with removing heat spreaders from ram modules..
