[Newegg] ACER 235GDHZ (120Hz) $199 NEW - Page 5

I would like to defend Babbabooey because I feel he's providing invaluable information to the community. He's not trolling - he made his statement a few pages ago, people questioned him (directly), and he provided new, non-repetitive responses.

Also, if you really, really care about these things you notice (like I did when I owned this monitor). I have a lot of friends who own Vizio TVs and love them, commenting on their great contrast, black levels, lack of bleeding, accurate motion, so on, while I look at one and throw up a little. Some people will never notice, and that's cool, not everyone wants to spend hundreds of dollars on high end A/V equipment, but for those of us who do it's nice to know what we're getting into.

I remember a couple of threads in the hot deals section on Hardforum of an HP LP2465 refurb. Its an older S-PVA display. It was a pretty popular deal. Very few people actually noticed the input lag which was pretty bad. One other thing that comes to mind is how few people notice the blatant gamebyro stutter in Oblivion, Fallout 3, and New Vegas. Stuff like that is why I'm hesitant to listen to peoples opinions when it comes to stuff like this. If you can post some accurate measurements saying that the input lag on the display is minimal or a link about a firmware revision saying that some of the issues that you can read about in reviews of this display are taken care of then I'll take what I have said back.
You've got to remember this isn't a thread for owners of this display in the monitors section. I wouldn't make these sort of posts there. This is a thread in the deals section for prospective buyers.
Instead of saying "there is no issue" a more helpful response would be to mention when you bought display and maybe we'll see a pattern. Maybe the overdrive artifacts are taken care of. Still thats a quick fix. Its not like you need overdrive if you aren't using 3d vision.
I would be shocked if the input lag was taken care of. Its not awful, but its there. The contrast was still poor, you can see that from any review.

This is comical. You're now demanding I prove to you that the panel works fine? For the helluvit I Google and found the vision blog explaining the OD settings and I tried it out and that caused ghosting. With OD on there is no issue with text and the ghosting level is pretty low. I don't really have a way of measuring the input lag but as I said before it doesn't seem to be an issue either. Anyways there's not much point to this now, the deal is dead and I've got no ghosting.

I got three of these sitting in my basement. I've been meaning to sell them for a while, I don't really have a need for them.

I would provide some corrections to the previous statements as well as my own opinion but I don't want to add fuel to a 2 week old argument.

I've had one for about a year now. I love this monitor! I don't look into "correct" colors too much, but the responsiveness and 120hz are great.

I own this monitor. I love the 120hz and being able to plug in my 360 via hdmi into it and switch between sources. However, I am a bit let down with the glare and colors. I used a colorimeter and fixed the colors a bit. I am thinking about upgrading to a 27 inch dell U2713 instead, and selling this bad boy off to reduce the cost.

Personally, I'd recommend looking for a different monitor if you can afford putting in a bit more money, but for $200, this monitor is a great buy.

Well it is a TN monitor after all, so the colors aren't up to par when compared to a IPS monitor. But if you're a gamer who's looking for a good monitor for 120Hz at a budget, this is your best bet.
The colors are good enough (in my opinion) for standard usage. The 120Hz experience is definitely remarkable, especially when watching 60 FPS streams on TwitchTV.
