The shadows extend across your ENTIRE VIEWABLE AREA: Never, ever at any point of the game do the shadows draw immediately in front of you. It is always full viewable area no matter what. The screenshot above demonstrates this.

screenshoots can´t show the problem, only video,

i`m not saying there are no shadows after 3 yards, there are many layers of shadows, but the high res ones are the ones being draw in front of you being fugly as hell

most people don`t even know what LOD is, or don´t pay attention to distant objects or npc

Good GRIEF I just posted a screenshot disproving your suggestion about shadow distance. IT DRAWS IN THE ENTIRE VIEWABLE AREA. Now it went from you "owning" AC brotherhood to "playing AC brotherhood. I think I know whats going on here. Just admit you don't own the game on PC, don't know what you're talking about, and stop googling bad screenshots to develop your counterargument. You want a counterargument, load up the game (after you buy it, since you don't have it) and prove your argument. Thus far everything you've stated about shadows is false, which is somewhat annoying. AC2, ACBro, and ACrev are not straight ports. They are not just like the console versions. They are notable improvements over the console versions.

flame wars are all that matter now don't they? You can adjust the graphics settings to maximum and the shadows do not pop in, and the graphics are superb for a port. Look at all the proof they have and look at what you have. no proof at all

xoleras is maximum butthurt. Sorry bro, it's a console port with graphic settings, that's all. There's no improvement in the graphics, besides AA support and higher resolutions.

This is the PM he sends me:

I already posted proof of the poor shadow LOD, but you ignored it. I could continue to debate you and win, but arguing with you is like playing chess with a pigeon: I could make any logical and advanced move in chess history, but the pigeon will still sit there clueless and defecate all over the board.

Relax bud, I believe he is talking about the shadow texture quality changing not too far from the camera. This is common for games that are using PSSM (Parallel split shadow mapping), which is on of the most popular shadowing techniques, the Unreal Engine supports it, for instance. If the texture resolution for these shadows, and the distances between the splits/lights are close (for performance reasons) then you can see a single shadow the appears smoother up close and then jagged as it gets further from the camera, and this is especially noticeable as you move the camera. More powerful PCs can use a higher bit image for the shadows and make them go out further so this is much less noticeable, but games oming from console may be less likely to tweak this for PCs. Even games like Borderlands 2, which was done very well for PC, have this issue, I have every setting at max and still see this occasionally.

I don't have AC for PC so I can't confirm that AC is using PSSM, but if it does occur you might be able to see it in some videos, if they are relatively high quality.

Long story short, this isn't about draw distance for shadows, it's the distance at which shadow texture quality is reduced.
