Silverstone tj08e or fractal design arc mini?

Which is better? Other alternatives would be great too:D

All things considered, I'd say the Arc Mini is a better case, but it's very subjective. What are you using the case for? What parts are you going to try and put in it? Are you concerned with aesthetics? It's difficult to recommend a case when we're not sure if you need lost of storage space, or if you're more concerned with packing long GPUs in for gaming, or if you need more cooling options.

Like I said, of the two you've posted, the Arc Mini is probably "better" overall, but throwing out some more details would help steer you in a better direction. smile.gif

I had a TJ08E, and LOVED it. Plenty of room for a full water cooling setup if you ever wanted to do that as well, and plenty small. The reverse ATX is pretty cool as well if you are into that.

I currently have a Core 3000, and its ok. Very basic. I do miss my FT03, that was an awesome case as well.

If you plan on water cooling I would go with the Arc Mini. The offset 240mm radiator at the top is quite genius. Other then that the choice is up to you. While the Arc Mini isn't exactly a great lookin case I am not a fan of the TJ08E.

I looked at these quite a bit for a home server I am building, but I ultimately decided the Bitfenix Prodigy looked like more fun to build in. This is not my main rig, however, so I didn't have as many concerns as you may, but just my 2 cents.

Don't need a lot of storage, as I'll be using it as a secondary, to and from uni, so ill be moving it around a lot. I'll be using a i5 3570k
either an mitx card(p8z77-I deluxe) or matx(maximus V gene). Not really sure which one, seeing as I already have the mitx board here, and don't really want to go through the hassle of returning the card, but I'd be doing it if it were THAT much better ofc.
I'd be using the h100 or the D14 in the fractal and I'd probably be using the h80 or the D14 in the silverstone. A gtx 670, either from msi, asus, evga or gigabyte( don't know which manufacturer yet=/)

The reason why I have an mITX board is because I wanted to do a prodigy build, but seeing as it's large for an ITX chassis, I thought I might as well go for m-atx.

I want to know:

- which has the better cooling?
- Which is better in terms of quality and sturdiness?
- Which is better for transportability? I'd assume the silverstone, seeing as it's lighter and smaller.

And if anybody knows if the the h100 and the p8z77-I deluxe would fit in the the arc mini, give me a heads up:)

I would say the Arc mini has better cooling. You got dual 120's in the front and dual 120's in the top vs a single 180 in the front and a single 120 in the top on the TJ08E. Also the internals of the TJ08E seem pretty cramped to me.

As for quality and sturdiness I cannot speak on the TJ08E. I have never owned a Silverstone product although my impression is that they are of high quality. As for the Arc Mini again I cannot speak but I can say that I owned the Fractal Define Mini and it was the most sturdy case out of all the nice cases I have owned (Corsair 650D,Fractal Define Mini, Bitfenix Shinobi, NZXT Switch 810). If their other cases are similar their build quality is second to none.

As for transportability I would guess they are similar to equal. SImilar in size and can't differ all that much in weight.

As per the motherboard I would guess the H100 should fit with the Z77-I deluxe. The offset mounting for the radiator should clear the VRM PCB but in my personal opinion I would return the board you have and get mATX jsut in case otherwise just go with an ITX case. Just my 2cents.gif Hope this helps.

If you haven't yet bought a cooler, go with the SG05 for portability. Throw an H60 or maybe an H80 (there was a thread around her about the H80 in an SG05). I think the H80 works if you only use one fan. Case comes with a PSU that will be fine for your needs.

Haha, originally, my plan was to make a prodigybuild, but seeing as it's so large and I've worked on it a little, seeing as I used the prodigy for my girlfriends gaming computer:P she thinks it's adorable...ofcxD I think it's too wide tbh...

Thank you guys for all your feedback. I think I'm going to order some parts tonight, to test the h100 and the board in the arc mini, but I think I'll be getting the maximum V gene anyways, as it seems like an awesome card, not that the p8z77-I deluxe doesn't . If I don't like the case, I can just return it for free^^

Imho, I don't think I'm ready to build in such a cramped space, even though the SG05 seems like an awesome case compared to how small it is!
