Is this TV worth it? - Page 3

Nice tv for 800$

Id say go for it. Manufacturers warranty still intact?

I like plasmas.

As stated current gens have basically no issues with burn in and power usage isn't much more for a better picture.

These 2 and 3 ms numbers on LCD panels are complete lies, just like the plasmas that are marketed as having millions to one contrast ratios. I work for a web hosting company...it doesn't mean I can make web sites or build data centers.

Enjoy your plasmas. I won't argue.

In all honesty if you are getting a 50"-60" TV, power consumption is the last thing on your mind tongue.gif

Plasma's are good TV's, the only problem is you have te keep it in an not to bright area, other wise your screen will look really dark.

If you don't want it, I'll take it.

Seriously though, this is a very decent deal. If warranty still covered I would take this in a heartbeat. It's not the best on the market, but its very nice. The price you'll be paying for that size is just a great deal IMO. Great bang for buck right here.

And as others have said, plasma has really progressed. You might be happier with something else, but you'll likely spend more, a decent bit more, for that. So if this TV has enough features for you, get it. It will look fantastic.

Also, I looked around, and from the quick search I did, @$1000 - $1300 its getting great reviews. 3.5/5 being the worst and 4/5 being the most common ratings given by people and reviewers/sites thats seemed to know at least a little. But I didn't see anything real in-depth review wise, mainly talking points/features and cust. reviews. So @$800, I'm sure its worth it.

I'm on Plasma from 4 years ago: 50" Panasonic and works fine, no complains. For 1,100 bucks? Why worrying? If it had costed 2 o 3 times of course I would complain.

Before this I had a 65" Mitsubishi DLP retroprojector that costed almost 4,000 and used It for 4 monts, when I saw the 50" Plasma I got worried for the monster I was keeping at home; bought the Plasma and sold the DLP (at the very 4,000). You will never imagine that two months later that 4,000 DLP (bought the year before) was 1,000 at Costco.

If I had to buy another TV, I'm quite shure I would go for plasma unless a LED was cheaper. I think that when spending around a 1,000 is not to worry but also not to ask for much.

A friend has just told me he Bought for 1,500 an 83" Mitsubishi DLP retroprojector. I would consider It for size and price.

When I got my 51 inch plasma a little over a year ago I had to sell my 60 inch dlp, and I could only get it to sell for 75 dollars if I remember right....

Yes HP1000, that was my very worry: having a stuf that was too expensive and could not get the price I had paid but for luck she asked me to sell It. Once I was told "sell when somebody ask You to buy" Ever hear that rule?
