Dear fellows i am really frustrated...
I bought an asus 7870 direct cu ii to replace my favorite vapor x 4870 ...

I was hoping to have the same ammounts of noise... But wasnt so lucky...

At idle the asus is silent .. But when i start playing a game it gets noisy...
Checking gpu tweak i noticed that fan gets loud after 30% of speed...

Is there something i can do to lower the noise of this card??

Download precision x and play around with the fan curve.

I am having the same problem on the exact same card. I was trying to play with the fan curve, but my GPU is constantly going from ramping up the noise and back to silent. It's really annoying to constantly hear the up and down. I was wondering if anyone had a fan curve that would eliminate this. I know that lower fan produces more heat, but is there a balance that will still effectively cool.

Here's mine for my 670 DCII:

It is dead silent when surfing the net etc. and ramps up when gaming. I can hear when it ramps up but don't notice it fluctuating.

Give it a try and see how you get on with it.
