My AMD build

Thread Starter
this is my first time building a pc. wanted a good one that would last me a long time gaming. ive actually had this thing up and running since march with no problems as far as anything goes. some say i got lucky. i did the entire build completely by myself. i looked at some vids and different sites of course but overall tell me how i did?

case: corsair graphite 600t white edition. paid 150
mobo: asus sabertooth 990fx am3+. paid 180
cpu: amd phenom II 6 core 3.33ghz. paid 200
ps: corsair ax1200 watt power supply. paid 300
gpu: evga gtx 560 2048MB GDDR5 superclocked. paid 230
ram: 16 gigs of corsair vengence ram. paid 80
drives: crucial 60gig ssd. paid 120 and a seagate 500g paid 90 and a lg disc drive. paid 25
cpu cooler: corsair H80 cooler. paid 80

so the build was about 1500

monitor: samsung syncmaster p2770hd: paid 300
already had keyboard, mouse and speakers
also bought additional fans probably around 40 bucks total

so overall about 1900 total including monitor and everything.
i have pics on my profile page to check out.
if anyone has any suggestions to make my build better or just have any suggestion let me know please.
i already have had people tell me why i got a 1200watt ps. i dont know just wanted a good ps. have had bad experiences with all others ive owned lol.

Could've saved a few bucks by going for less ram, and with a 1200 watt psu unless you're rocking 3 video cards is just overkill.

With 1200 watts you can plug a lot of stuff in, a lot.

Where do you live? As those prices seem quite on the high side.

You've made the same mistake as countless others, HUGE PSU! No need to get 2x your needed wattage to get a reliable psu, simply get a ax650 or whatever.

Oh ok, ya March was 6 months ago in the computer world that is an eternity. Anyway I hope you enjoy your build as it is quite nice, but if you want my honest opinion I would not have went with AMD and dropped $1500 on it.

my 2 cents

Hi, I am new to the land, just wanted to say that I am very happy with my AMD Fx 8150. So far I have played many games at full HD resolution with out lag. I think the architecture of the chip is awesome, forward thinking innovation. I may be wrong but AMD has proven the world that all that multy , hyper threading crap is bull.. that all programmers and software developers are only shooting for dual core optimization then spreading the rest into "virtual Processors" telling the "virtual score" of a bench mark. AMD tried to make a Parallel Multy tasking processor and the world was not ready for it. Whoever in the market for a set up don't let bench marks tell you the story, take it from people who own it.
