Question about RAM with ASUS P5B Deluxe Wifi

Thread Starter
I've received half of my order from NewEgg Today I got my motherboard (ASUS P5B Deluxe Wifi-AP) and case (Lian-Li if you wanted to know) and tomorrow I'm receiving the rest which includes: Core 2 Extreme, X1950XTX, HDD, Sound Card, Keyboard, OCZ PSU, Mouse and RAM. The ram I'm getting is Corsair XMS2 Dominator 2x 1GB. My question is, is this RAM computable with the motherboard? Unfortunately I didn't take this into consideration before hand.

Thanks Guys.

It is compatible.... but why would you even buy them?

Which x1950xtx did you get? GDDR3 version?

Send it back and get yourself a 8800GTS, same price, 2x the performance (when OCed)

No thanks, because then I'd have to send back the motherboard if I'm not mistaken and with my ADD I'm very impatient so that wouldnt be good. My main concern and the reason for this thread is the RAM.

You should send the mobo back too, the wifi is pointless

Did you even research your build before buying?

That 1950XTX is a fast card.

I'll tell you in a few hours if that RAM is compatible...I'm replacing bad RAM in my P5B Deluxe with Corsair XMS2 until I get my existing ram RMA'd.

I didn't buy the motherboard because of the Wifi, I bought it because I wanted a X1950XTX and I'm going to crossfire next month so it had a good chipset for it, and it supported the Core 2 Extreme THATS why I got it. And I did research it before I ordered everything, I forgot about the RAM, so thats why Im asking.

The P5B only supports crossfire (two physical cards) in PCIx16 and PCIx4 mode. In other words, one of the crossfire cards will be severely hobbled. The 975X chipset is superior for Crossfire.

Core 2 Extreme? As in x6800 or QX6700? Because both those are supported by a ton of boards

A single OCed GTS will outperform a CFed x1950xtx while only costing you the price of 1 x1950xtx, that, and there is only 3-4 months until AMD releases R600

The above led me to believe you didn't research anything, but you said you did, which means you didn't do a very good job at it

GL with your rig
