New Build running!

Thread Starter
My system specs are below, I found the stepping on my CPU which is CAB1E. Does anyone else have any experience with this particular processor, and or know what kind of OC this is capable of? So far shes running @ 2.4GHz. Here is the cpuz Validation link for it, so check it out, and if you have any insight or suggestions on how I have everything currently running please let me know! Also right now im still running stock voltages on everything and cpu temp is at 33*C

Thanks again here is the link

Most of the CAB1E Optys usually do 27-2800MHz, good stepping
Get all you can out of it at default voltage for a few weeks then up only a notch and work the OCing as far as you can. Most Optys are not voltage hungry and seem to do best on air with mid 1.4 to low 1.5ish volts.

What is important is your RAM, what is the default speed and timings. Depandant on that you may require many adjustments...
1. voltage increase, we need to know exactally what RAM it is to recommend that adjustment... most can handle the 2.8 just fine though.
2. Relaxing the timings can usually afford higher speeds
3. The RAM's memory multiplyer...
5x200=1000MHz default
Drop to 4x for a CPU bus up to 260MHz then 3x for beyond that.
4. The Memory controler may require a v bump too along with the chip set voltage ... those only if necessary, some MBs need it some don't.
4. Memory dividers...
If it's DDR400 dropping the Default to DDR333 or DDR266 afford the RAM room to incease in speed along wth the CPU OCing. If it's DDR500 start with DDR400 settings and use the divider as necessary.

The RAM is 2 Sticks 512 each, of Kingston HyperX Default Voltage and Dual Channel.

Memory is the hard part, I dont know much at all about the memory timings, and whats best to set them at depending on the current clock speed. I do know that it plays a very crucial part in overclocking, system stability, and performance, but what to set it at is where I get lost LOL.

I was able to hit 2.9GHz however performance seemed to degrade which I think was due to my RAM, it was stable other than that for about 5mins when it just suddenly rebooted out of no where. Temps stayed within range, I have yet to see it get over 40* C. I imagine that its the memory and or voltage causing this but I dropped it back down to 2.8 to be safe.

I would try a google to see if you can find some OCers that have worked them and also get A64 tweaker utility to ID and work with the various timings. I'm not wiz at it so you'll have to learn or post for more help with it.
It's in the link along with many other good utilities like OCCT for load testing.

Stability, not that it's your issue but to be considered, the PS... about 26a or more on the 12+v rail(s) is the min recommended for a single cars system.
