New config for my Lian-Li PC-A05

Hi guys! I have this case - Lian-Li PC-A05. I want to buy entirely new config, but keep my HDD's (they have 5 years warranty and I don't need more space in the moment).

So this is the config I was thinking about:

Motherboard: ASROCK B75 PRO3 /B75/1155
CPU: I5-3570 /3.4G/6MB/BOX/LGA1155
RAM: 2X4G DDR3 1866 GEIL EVO LEGGERA
VGA: ASUS GTX660 DirectCUII 2GB DDR5
PSU: Seasonic SSR-550RM GOLD

What do you think? Is it proper? Do I need different kind of RAM/PSU and so on? I want a silent PC, but nothing too extreme. Do you think that ASUS P8Z77-V is better choice for this CPU? And which version to be exact - their are LX, LE, LK, Pro...

And one more thing - do I need another CPU cooler to keep things more silent. And which one do you suggest?

I don't do overclocking any more. The PC will be used for HD Media Center (I have a BENQ DLP projector) and gaming, but I don't play games frequently.

My budget is around 900-920 $ USD. Dear staff - I don't know where else to post my topic - sorry, If I've messed up the rules. I'm no pro!

Cheers!

I have the 3570k and the P8Z77-V. I know you said you don't want to overclock, but all I did with mine is change the multiplier to 42 and it runs at 4.2GHz without changing the voltages or messing with any other settings and stays reasonably cool. Very very easy and you get a 4.2GHz (at the least; could possibly get to 4.5 without changing voltages) CPU for only an extra $15, so I really think you should get the 3570k instead of the 3570, but it's your choice

As for the board, there aren't many differences between the different models of the P8Z77-V and the extra cost for any board isn't worth it IMO, but only you can tell how beneficial the extra features are for you. Z77s are better for IBs so it's good in that respect

I can recommend the Fractal case fans for silence as mine are very silent, the CPU cooler I can't comment on, and as for the PSU I have an AX750 which runs fanless up to 320W (I think) so obviously it's completely silent but still does stay cool - something similar might be an option for you?

You might also want to think about noise reduction on the HDDs as they will probably make the most racket out of the entire build, I know mine do...

This is very important information! Thank you sincerely! Is it really that easy to overclock it? Please, share with me more info bout your config - do you accomplished it with Arctic Cooling Freezer 13 Pro? Is this the cooler you suggest me to buy for my i5?

Forget the noise of the HDD's - I'm used to them. If I want to overclock - do I need more Mhz on my ram - 2133, 2400? And what do you think about this motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V LK ? Is it the one I need? Because I think it is.

Or is the ASRock Z77 EXTREME4 more appropriate? What's you opinion?

Again - thank you for your post and please give me more info. Thanks!

P.S: Sorry, but I got exited! Ha-ha biggrin.gif

Haha it's cool

Have a look through the forums and the internet about the 3570k, it's easy to overclock and fairly inexpensive but can run quite hot, hotter than the 3770k. My Freezer 13 is ok but I haven't looked too much into CPU coolers and just got it because my old Freezer 7 was so good

My RAM is at 1600MHz and it seems to be good, I haven't noticed any bottlenecking yet but if you can afford higher speeds it probably isn't a bad idea to go faster

I personally prefer Asus for motherboards because IMO they always have excellent BIOSs and very high build quality, ASRock are good but don't have the experience of Asus

The thing with building your own computer, however, is only you can know what parts are right for your build because the whole point to building your own computer is to optimise it for your uses. If I tell you what to put in, then it becomes my computer and not yours

I understand what you mean by "becoming my PC" and all of that. But I have been always using ASUS too (ASUS P4SDX, ASUS P5Q), but some guys told me, that I don't need it if I don't overclock.

I'll think about it then. If anyone has other ideas - I'm here for discussion. Thanks again mate! thumb.gif
