Windows 8 might seem like the right step in the right direction, everything is easier and just there. Is that good? I guess it depends on who you ask. I for one, hate iOS for its simplicity. Yes, it runs well and rarely lags if at all but everything just seems there, felt like I was using a toy made for newborns. I felt like I was being insulted by the simplicity and lack of...options? I don't like that. Windows 8 reminds me of the same experience, the not metro look just doesn't do it for me. I get it, all your stuff is right there. I just really don't like the fisher price theme they got with the blocks. It feels like a step backwards in terms of innovation.

Because he stands up for independent gaming, and has proven that small indie studios can make it big, and that not all studios have to sell out to companies like EA or Activision. I paid $13 for Minecraft, and have played it many more hours than any other game out there, and that's saying something since I've been gaming for 26 years now. It's sad that he's pretty much standing up for an open system for games, and gamers are complaining about it. Sure he's also looking out for his own best interests, but at the same time he also feels its in gamers' best interest as well.

haha yeah sounds like it, but its exactly why I said everything is just too easy. It feels like they've taken the best of mobile OS and integrated it into windows. I just hate the simplicity of it, something just doesn't feel right to me. Same reason why I just hate using an iPad, everything is just there, makes me feel like I have some sort of handicap. Weird, eh?

Multi-touch is one technology they're pushing with windows 8, and I for one don't see how it can be useful. The reason we have touchscreen phones is so that real estate could be maximized with any type of application, buttons can be moved around etc. I've had touchscreen capabilities on my laptops since the days of windows XP, got one of them stylus things with a sensor that attaches to your monitor. Yes, it was really cool for the first week using it, as it does work very well and exactly as described. Use it as a mouse, use it as a pen, no need for keyboard and mouse anymore!

Trying to do anything productive on the computer, it really slows you down. Now instead of resting your arms on a keyboard and mouse your arms are just in constant motion with your hands constantly touching a 22' device...it gets tiring after a few hours and the novelty wears off. Hell typing notes on my transformer tf300 in class I rarely use the touchscreen, mouse and keyboard is a million times faster.

Although this is supposed to be the jack of all trades as far as OS are concerned...right?

Notch can do whatever he wants and he knows it, the true reason...who cares?!

Prove it.
a) He's like those "One song bands". With exception that those songs are at least good or memorable.
b) There are more than those 2 studios. And some make it good, on top of my head I'd say Krater was decent.
c) Pretty much first sentence in quote proves it. And I'd say he's successful at that, at least some forums picked that bs up.

I like to see games move forward, not back into 90's.

p.s. before you start that rage again, lego games are even worse and all devs who participated in countless clones of it and mario name usage should not exist.

What do you mean by games moving back into the 90's? Graphics < Gameplay. Besides, Minecraft already puts a decent amount of stress on the average computer. It's essentially a voxel-based game so it needs more CPU/GPU bandwidth than a game that would just render a world that could not be altered like that. If you'd like to read more about it, I wrote a post here saying why a game like Crysis 2/3 can cut so many corners to achieve the look that it does, and why Minecraft cannot: http://www.overclock.net/t/1294924/ng-crysis-3-graphics-will-melt-down-pcs-crytek/200_50#post_17959601

I really could care less if Minecraft looks like a 90's game, what I care about is that it's fun. No AAA title ever got me hooked for almost 1000 hours, especially for a measly $13. I wish half of the games that come out these days could even get me to play them for 100 hours. You don't have to like Minecraft, many people don't, but that doesn't mean that you should write off the fact that millions of others do (at this moment, 7,551,983 people have bought the game). I don't like BF3, but I'll acknowledge that it's probably a great game based on its sales.

oh no, of course not, minecraft has mindbogglingly epic gameplay.
I remember I was excited about tetris game, oh wait, but I was 8-9 years old...

ok yeah, I admit, I have a weird sense of humor.
I also will admit that I will not, ever, read posts with annotations like you did there.

There are four main gamer types: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bartle_Test#Character_theory
1.) Socializer
2.) Achiever
3.) Killer
4.) Explorer

Minecraft is mostly for the "explorer" type, but it also fits into "socializer" (in multiplayer), and "killer" in some regards.

My point? You may just not be the explorer type.
