thats for gamers, for power users AM3+ long life is a good thing.. thumb.gif

I doubt AMD has in mind of releasing another socket (AM4) since they will be focusing only on APUs in the future.

At this point I think gamer and power user are pretty interchangeable terms. All the powerful consumer computer equipment is marketed with gaming even if said component isn't that great doing it. (ie bulldozer)

Not sure if I am excited about this or not. I cheaped out on my mobo and CPU for a better GPU. I will probably just upgrade my mobo and CPU when that time comes. But I guess it is nice to have the option to just drop in a Streamroller chip if the performance is there.

I'm doing a new build next month with a 3770k, instead of a fx 8350 because I'm told the amd chip will hinder the performance of two 670's or 680's in sli... Now, whether I'll be able to see that bottleneck is yet to be determined... I would have preferred the amd chip due to its lower cost, and the fact that there is an upgrade path sometime in the future...However, I am using two cards, and am worried the amd chip will hold it back...this is what I'm told though...if I can use an fx 8320/8350 with a dual card set up or 3 660ti's...I would rather go amd...I just don't want any loss in performance...I used to use an i7 before selling my machine... so, I don't know what I'm losing here..or if i'll see a difference

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this doesn't mean anything without a proper BIOS to enable compatibility, does it?
