ASUS Motherboard Warranty/RMA Denied (plus awesome XFX Support) - Page 4

While Im surely surprised that this is happening with Asus, as they used to be the general consensus top tier company for us. Its even more surprising that you have been so professional in your inquiries, and for them to blatantly say "not covered" after having been directed otherwise by their own warranty terms is ridiculous at best.

I am also very glad to see XFX picking up their service standard, as a horror story here on OCN a while has had me deterred from them ever since. IT went with 3 RMA's to a trade for a GPU of equal value which resulted in that GPU also being faulty til he just gave up.

It seems like the enthusiast market is being pushed aside, nvidia cutting ties with anyone with any overvoltage bonuses, antec quabbling rma's, asus squandering rma's.

Even my own RIIIE doesnt see all of my RAM, but I dont want to RMA because 1366 isnt in streamline anymore and I dont feel like being out of a computer for a few months because of it lol

Xfx seem very openly water cooling friendly which is rare, and quite frankly a bit of relief.

I had a similar issue with RIII3 BE. It's just the board, and no matter what you tell Asus they dance around it, stating CPU imc is to blame. However, make sure to verify you have a high enough voltage on your VTT and if you need read some trouble shooting guides to get it all to show up. Adjusting TLr on memory timings for me also helped (+2). I even showed Raj @Asus my same CPU on an EVGA E770 was running 24GB @ 2000 MHZ @ 9-9-9, prime95 stable, after he insisted CPU imc was at fault. His only response was why did I switch boards. Like I had done something wrong buying his companies 600$ board. Afterwards it was we can't guarantee that much memory will work at any higher than IMC stock of 1333MHz but again it wasn't exactly stable and honestly just a bit annoying. It wasnt even an isolated case and the lack of driver support in general was god awful despite the number of bugs we found weekly. I guess I should have realized Asus's trend a year ago.

I have a YouTube video from a while back dealing with R3E black edition too.

Had the same problem with my RiVE. The company who represents Asus told me they won't replace the motherboard just because the CPU pins were bent. I had a few friends who eventually helped, straightened the pin and memory is working fine in all slots. The people with problems related to memory not being detected in the dimms, try looking for and straightening the bent pins( if you have a sturdy hand)

And this was still in a 30 day return period? What company was this so I never buy from them?

After one bad experience with them a few years back where my mobo somehow was damaged in transit even though it was in the actual mobo box bubble wrapped and surrounded with about 4" of peanuts in a box that could fit and old 19" CRT and then some. Somehow a corner was chipped and when I asked to see shipping box and mobo box for any damaged they refused and said it had been disposed of??????? I mean *** how can they say it was damaged in transit then throw away proof of it?

Anyways I've bounced around GB, MSI and currently on Asrock.

GB was awesome and none of the 5 or so boards I bought for people have had any issues till this day, but I hated their weird hybrid BIOS but other than that rock solid.

MSI I only bought two boards for ultra budgets and one AM3 board for my little sisters PC which broke down after about a year and wouldn't post, I sent the board in and had a replacement board in her PC in under 10 days, FANTASTIC turnaround with little fuss.

So far no issue with my Asrock boards and I've bought 4 two z68 extreme 3's and two Z77s extreme 4s, zero issues with any of them except for the slightly short PCB that kinda makes the board float by the edge of the PSU connector but I knew this when I bought it and have had no issues. Such value at such prices is really unheard of and only Biostar with a few of their boards comes closes to being that feature rich at those prices.

I'll check my history and try to help you bump thread when ever I remember in case you forget . thumb.gif

Anyways, I hope it works out for you OP and you get a fresh RMA that you can sell on the Marketplace and try to get some cash out of it, or If you have a nice bat and need to practice your swing..........devil.gif

I hope they compensate you for all the trouble they've caused. I just hate it when we support such companies and then they just stab us in the back when it comes to RMAs.

I'd say, don't leave them. Eat their head up until it gets sorted out!
