I myself have gotten horrible performance since the "optimization" patch. I've honestly gotten worse and worse FPS every update since Nov. Back in NOV I was getting no less than 80FPS even during heavy fighting. Now, I can hardly keep 60 FPS rolling smoothly. Consistently dipping into the 30's. What's worse is my PC has gotten BETTER since nov. With a new Mobo, new Samsung 830's, fresh OS, and alot of system optimizations to reduce memory/CPU usage. Yet, Planetside 2 keeps getting worse.

I love this game. But I'm really tired of receiving the shaft from SOE.

Holy crap. I just got in my first decent engagement since the patch. Literally less than 1 frame a second, the game almost locked up. It's explosions that're causing it. Every stutter I was seeing was directly synchronized with an explosion.

I can't play until they fix this.

The patch has so far improved my peformance on my wife's rig. Oddly enough, I tried it out for the first time in some time on my own, and it is actually semi-playable now, which is a huge improvement. I'm sorry to see so many others having problems though.

The only problem I've had since the patch which I hadn't seen before with PS2, was quiting, and coming back a couple hours later. Steam told me PS2 was already running. Tried closing steam, but it responded with the fact that it couldn't close PS2. Nothing good ol' Ctrl+Alt+Delete couldn't fix. I've seen that in other games, but this was the first with PS2, so it may or may not be patch related.

Well, I honestly think their intentions are good. They set a date for the patch, and really wanted to meet it, as they knew the fanbase was really hyped about it. They had to push it back already... and I think at some point they decided for a trade-off to get the content out. Likely, they didn't realize how bad the trade-off was going to be.

And in the end, big updates, or weekly updates likely won't make a difference in a good way. By your theory, it would be the same amount of content... but instead of checking one final product for release every few months, they would be checking 4 per month.... In other words, if its QA having a problem, that would likely bog them down even more.

Did they modify the AA at all? Previously it was always spawn, fly a few meters, die. Unless I was at a warpgate, then it was spawn, leave warpgate, fly a few meters, die. Now I can fly around the continent in a Mosquito without getting a million lock-ons and being insta-gibbed. I actually had some good dogfights yesterday.

I just need to change my Air-To-Ground loadout to be loadout #1, getting sick of forgetting to select loadouts and ending up in a Mosquito that's just equipped for speedy transport with little weaponry.

No changes to AA. Ground vehicles got buffed, so you aren't getting camped, because the AA has bigger problems afoot. Simple as that. Direct DPS and mechanic changes aren't the only way to fix a problem.

Edit: Seems people are getting the lag issues to stop by disabling their HUD. Rolling blind for a night or two might be interesting.

Well, if it is HUD related... Hopefully a hotfix will be sooner, since that could be a simpler problem....
